Lomefloxacin falls under ORGANIC ANION-TRANSPORTING POLYPEPTIDE SUBSTRATES (OATP) — the group Sorrel interacts with.

Sorrel might reduce the effectiveness of OATP substrates by reducing their absorption from the gut.
In vitro research shows that sorrel inhibits OATP1A2. Theoretically it may inhibit other OATPs. The OATPs are expressed in the small intestine and liver and transport drugs into cells. Inhibition of OATP may reduce the bioavailability of oral drugs that are substrates of OATP.

Here's the gist: lomefloxacin (Maxaquin) is an antibiotic, and it relies partly on transport proteins called OATPs to get absorbed and moved into your cells. Sorrel, in lab studies, seems to block one of these transporters. The worry is that if sorrel slows that uptake, less of your antibiotic actually makes it into your system. For an infection, that's the wrong direction. You want full strength so the bug gets knocked out, not a weakened dose that leaves bacteria behind.

That said, this is theoretical, based only on test-tube work, not real patients. A little sorrel in soup or salad is unlikely to matter much. Concentrated supplement doses are the bigger question mark. To be safe, separate them in time and check with your pharmacist or doctor.
