Here's the short version: tamarind, especially as a concentrated seed extract, may have a small blood-sugar-lowering effect of its own. When you stack that on top of Metformin XR, which is already working to bring your glucose down, the two could add up. In theory that could push your numbers lower than expected, leading to symptoms like shakiness, sweating, dizziness, or feeling unusually tired.

I want to be honest about the evidence though: this is based on animal studies, not solid human research, so it's more of a heads-up than an alarm. Tamarind used as a normal food in cooking is very unlikely to cause trouble. The bigger question mark is with concentrated seed-extract supplements. If you want to try one, check your blood sugar a bit more closely at first and run it by your pharmacist or doctor before starting.
