Umeclidinium Bromide falls under ANTICHOLINERGIC DRUGS — the group Teazle interacts with.

In vitro research suggests that teazle extract can inhibit acetylcholinesterase activity. Theoretically, concurrent use of anticholinergic drugs and teazle might decrease the effectiveness of teazle or the anticholinergic agent.

Here's the idea behind this pairing. Your inhaler, Incruse Ellipta (umeclidinium), works by blocking a chemical messenger called acetylcholine in your airways. That blocking action is what relaxes and opens up your breathing passages in COPD. Lab studies hint that teazle may push in the opposite direction by raising acetylcholine levels. In theory, the two could partly cancel each other out, which might make your inhaler work a little less well (think more wheezing, cough, or shortness of breath) or could blunt whatever effect teazle is supposed to have.

I want to be honest though: this is only a theoretical concern from test-tube research, not something proven in people, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Umeclidinium is also a prodrug? No, it's already active, so there's no flip here. Still, since you rely on this inhaler to breathe easier, please check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding teazle.

What Is Umeclidinium Oral Inhalation Used For?

Brand name: Incruse Ellipta

Umeclidinium Ellipta and Umeclidinium ELLIPTA (generic) are indicated for the maintenance treatment of COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) in adults. This means it is used every day on a regular schedule to help keep airways open and reduce COPD symptoms over time.

This medication is not a rescue inhaler. It will not treat a sudden flare-up or acute bronchospasm. A separate short-acting inhaler is needed for those situations.
