ANTIDIABETES DRUGS
Why this applies to Dasiglucagon Hydrochloride
Dasiglucagon Hydrochloride falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Terminalia Bellirica interacts with.
Animal research suggests that Terminalia bellirica fruit extract, alone or in combination with Terminalia chebula and Indian gooseberry, has hypoglycemic effects. This activity has not been shown in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's something a little unusual about this pairing. Dasiglucagon (Zegalogue) is your rescue medicine for severe low blood sugar. It works the opposite way from most diabetes drugs, it tells your liver to dump stored sugar into your blood to bring you back up quickly. So a supplement like Terminalia bellirica, which lab and animal studies hint may lower blood sugar, could in theory work against what dasiglucagon is trying to do in that emergency moment.
In real life this concern is very theoretical. The blood-sugar-lowering effect hasn't actually been shown in people, and it's mild at best. Still, anything that nudges your sugar lower deserves a mention to your doctor or pharmacist, especially since you keep dasiglucagon on hand for emergencies. Never change how you use your rescue medicine on your own.
