Diazepam falls under CNS DEPRESSANTS — the group Theacrine interacts with.

Theoretically, theacrine might alter the effects of CNS depressants.
Animal research shows that low doses of theacrine have sedating effects, whereas high doses might have stimulant effects. Depending on the dose of theacrine used, it might increase or decrease the effects of CNS depressants. However, these effects have not yet been reported in humans.

Here's the honest picture with theacrine and diazepam (Valium). Diazepam is a benzodiazepine that calms down activity in the brain, which can leave you feeling drowsy, relaxed, or a little foggy. Theacrine is a caffeine-like supplement, and in animal studies it acted oddly: small doses seemed to calm and sedate, while bigger doses acted more like a stimulant.

So the concern goes both ways. Lower amounts of theacrine could in theory add to diazepam's sedation (more sleepiness, slower reactions), while higher amounts might work against it and blunt the calming effect you're counting on. The key thing to know is that this is purely theoretical right now, based on lab and animal work, and it has not been seen in people. Still, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

What Is Diazepam Used For?

  • Diazepam is used to relieve anxiety and to control agitation caused by alcohol withdrawal. It is also used along with other medications to control muscle spasms and spasticity caused by certain neurological disorders such as cerebral palsy (condition that causes difficulty with movement and balance), paraplegia (inability to move parts of the body), athetosis (abnormal muscle contractions), and stiff-man syndrome (a rare disorder with muscle rigidity and stiffness). Diazepam is also used along with other medications to control seizures. Diazepam is in a class of medications called benzodiazepines. It works by calming abnormal overactivity in the brain.
