Tasimelteon falls under CNS DEPRESSANTS — the group Theacrine interacts with.

Theoretically, theacrine might alter the effects of CNS depressants.
Animal research shows that low doses of theacrine have sedating effects, whereas high doses might have stimulant effects. Depending on the dose of theacrine used, it might increase or decrease the effects of CNS depressants. However, these effects have not yet been reported in humans.

Here's the honest picture: tasimelteon (Hetlioz) is a melatonin-like medicine that nudges your body clock and helps you sleep. Theacrine is a caffeine cousin that's mostly used for energy and focus. On paper, the two pull in different directions, which is why there's a flag here. The catch is that theacrine is a bit unpredictable: animal studies suggest low doses may be calming while higher doses act more like a stimulant.

So depending on the amount, theacrine could either add to drowsiness or work against tasimelteon and make it harder to fall asleep at your target time. I want to stress this is theoretical, based on how these compounds behave in the lab, not something proven in people. Tasimelteon isn't a prodrug, so this isn't about activation. Still, since timing is everything with non-24 and SMS sleep treatment, run any theacrine product past your pharmacist or doctor first.

What Is Tasimelteon Used For?

Brand names: Hetlioz, Hetlioz Lq

Tasimelteon capsules are approved to treat Non-24-Hour Sleep-Wake Disorder (Non-24) in adults. Non-24 is a condition where the body's internal clock does not align with the normal 24-hour day, causing sleep and wake times to shift continuously.

Hetlioz capsules are also approved to treat nighttime sleep disturbances in Smith-Magenis Syndrome (SMS) in patients 16 years of age and older. Hetlioz LQ oral suspension is approved specifically for nighttime sleep disturbances in SMS in pediatric patients ages 3 to 15 years.
