Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
Oral Drugs
Why this applies to Ivermectin
Ivermectin falls under Oral Drugs — the group Thyroid Extract interacts with.
Well-controlled human studies have demonstrated the likely existence of this interaction.
Here the concern runs the other way than you might expect. It is not that ivermectin changes your thyroid extract, but that taking the two together at the same moment could get in the way of how well the thyroid hormone is absorbed. Thyroid hormones absorb best on an empty stomach, and swallowing other oral pills alongside them can blunt that uptake a bit.
The good news is this is rated minor, and ivermectin is usually a short course (often a single dose or a couple of doses), so any effect on your thyroid levels is small and temporary. A simple fix is spacing them out, for example taking your thyroid product first thing in the morning and your ivermectin separately. Run the timing by your pharmacist to be safe.

About Thyroid Extract
What is Thyroid Extract?
- Hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid)
- Fatigue and low energy
- Weight management
- Sluggish metabolism
- General thyroid support
Thyroid extract supplements are made from dried animal thyroid gland and may contain real thyroid hormones (T3 and T4), but the amounts in over-the-counter products are not standardized and can be unpredictable. Self-treating a thyroid problem with these supplements can be risky, so always work with a doctor or pharmacist and use prescription thyroid medicine when treatment is needed.
About Ivermectin
What Is Ivermectin Used For?
Brand names: Stromectol, Mectizan, Sklice, Soolantra
Ivermectin is used for different problems depending on the product. Oral tablets (Stromectol and ivermectin tablets) treat intestinal strongyloidiasis (a worm infection of the gut) and onchocerciasis (river blindness, caused by a parasitic worm).
Topical lotions (such as RID One and Done and Sklice) treat head lice. Ivermectin cream 1% (Soolantra and generic) treats inflammatory lesions of rosacea (the red bumps and pimples).
