Oral Drugs
Why this applies to Letermovir (Oral)
Letermovir (Oral) falls under Oral Drugs — the group Thyroid Extract interacts with.
Well-controlled human studies have demonstrated the likely existence of this interaction.
Here the issue runs the other way from what people usually expect. Your letermovir (Prevymis) isn't really the one at risk. Instead, taking it at the same moment as your thyroid extract may get in the way of how well the thyroid hormone is absorbed. Many oral pills and even food can bind up thyroid hormone in your gut, so less of it gets into your system.
This is a minor timing matter, not a dangerous one, but it can leave your thyroid treatment working less reliably. The simple fix is spacing: thyroid hormone usually works best on an empty stomach, taken well before other medicines. Since you're a transplant patient, please confirm the exact timing with your pharmacist or doctor before changing anything.

About Thyroid Extract
What is Thyroid Extract?
- Hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid)
- Fatigue and low energy
- Weight management
- Sluggish metabolism
- General thyroid support
Thyroid extract supplements are made from dried animal thyroid gland and may contain real thyroid hormones (T3 and T4), but the amounts in over-the-counter products are not standardized and can be unpredictable. Self-treating a thyroid problem with these supplements can be risky, so always work with a doctor or pharmacist and use prescription thyroid medicine when treatment is needed.
