Oral Drugs
Why this applies to Psyllium Hydrophilic Mucilloid , Senna (OTC drug)
Psyllium Hydrophilic Mucilloid , Senna (OTC drug) falls under Oral Drugs — the group Thyroid Extract interacts with.
Well-controlled human studies have demonstrated the likely existence of this interaction.
Here's the simple version: the psyllium in Prodiem Plus is a soluble fiber, and fiber is one of those things that can grab onto thyroid hormone in your gut and carry some of it out before your body absorbs it. So if you swallow your thyroid extract at the same time as this fiber and senna product, you may end up absorbing a bit less of the thyroid hormone than you intended.
The good news is this is easy to manage with timing. Most folks do best taking thyroid hormone on an empty stomach and then waiting at least a few hours before a fiber dose. Since over-the-counter thyroid extract isn't standardized anyway, please loop in your pharmacist or doctor so your thyroid levels stay on track.

About Thyroid Extract
What is Thyroid Extract?
- Hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid)
- Fatigue and low energy
- Weight management
- Sluggish metabolism
- General thyroid support
Thyroid extract supplements are made from dried animal thyroid gland and may contain real thyroid hormones (T3 and T4), but the amounts in over-the-counter products are not standardized and can be unpredictable. Self-treating a thyroid problem with these supplements can be risky, so always work with a doctor or pharmacist and use prescription thyroid medicine when treatment is needed.
