Oral Drugs
Why this applies to Trimethobenzamide
Trimethobenzamide falls under Oral Drugs — the group Thyroid Extract interacts with.
Well-controlled human studies have demonstrated the likely existence of this interaction.
Here's the practical angle on combining a thyroid extract with trimethobenzamide (Tigan). The concern on file is really about timing and absorption: when other oral products are in your stomach at the same time as thyroid hormone, they can blunt how well that hormone gets soaked up. Trimethobenzamide itself isn't doing anything fancy to your thyroid levels, it's simply another oral medication sharing the same digestive space.
This is rated minor, and Tigan is usually a short-term, as-needed medicine for nausea and vomiting, so it's rarely an everyday issue. To play it safe, try to take your thyroid product on an empty stomach and space it from other pills. If you're feeling off, jittery, sluggish, or unusually drowsy, check in with your pharmacist or doctor before changing anything.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Trimethobenzamide page
“This is a list where the caution centers on one pairing, and it is an easy mistake to make. Trimethobenzamide (Tigan) treats nausea and vomiting, and activated charcoal, sold as a stomach remedy, is exactly what a queasy person might reach for alongside it.”

About Thyroid Extract
What is Thyroid Extract?
- Hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid)
- Fatigue and low energy
- Weight management
- Sluggish metabolism
- General thyroid support
Thyroid extract supplements are made from dried animal thyroid gland and may contain real thyroid hormones (T3 and T4), but the amounts in over-the-counter products are not standardized and can be unpredictable. Self-treating a thyroid problem with these supplements can be risky, so always work with a doctor or pharmacist and use prescription thyroid medicine when treatment is needed.
