Theoretically, tragacanth might alter absorption of oral drugs.
Tragacanth contains hydrocolloidal fiber which can decrease, increase, or not affect oral drug absorption. To avoid changes in absorption, take tragacanth 30-60 minutes after oral medications.

Here's the simple version: tragacanth is a plant gum that swells into a thick gel when it hits water in your stomach and gut. That gel can grab onto pills and either slow them down, speed them up, or do nothing at all. With aminosalicylic acid (Paser), which you take by mouth to help treat tuberculosis, the worry is that this gel could change how much of your dose actually gets absorbed.

If absorption drops, your TB treatment may not work as well, and that really matters since these medicines need to stay effective. The good news is this is only a theoretical concern based on how the gum behaves, not proven harm. A safe habit is to take your aminosalicylic acid first, then wait 30 to 60 minutes before any tragacanth. Please run it by your pharmacist or doctor to be sure.
