Here's the gist: tragacanth is a gummy fiber that swells into a thick gel in your stomach. That gel can sometimes grab onto a pill you swallow and slow down or change how much of it gets absorbed. With phenylpropanolamine (an older decongestant and diet-aid stimulant), the concern is mostly that the gel could blunt or shift how much medicine reaches your bloodstream, which might make it work less reliably.

This is only a theoretical concern based on how fiber behaves, not from real studies on this exact pair, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. To stay on the safe side, take your phenylpropanolamine first and wait 30 to 60 minutes before the tragacanth. If you ever feel jittery, notice a racing heart, or higher blood pressure, check in with your pharmacist or doctor.
