Tragacanth contains hydrocolloidal fiber which can decrease, increase, or not affect oral drug absorption. To avoid changes in absorption, take tragacanth 30-60 minutes after oral medications.

Here's some good news that should put your mind at ease. The interaction we have on file talks about tragacanth possibly changing how oral medicines get absorbed in your gut. But dipivefrin (Propine) is an eye drop, not a pill. You put it right onto the surface of your eye, where it gets absorbed and converted into epinephrine to lower the pressure inside your eye. It never has to pass through your stomach or intestines, so a gut-thickening fiber gel like tragacanth really doesn't have a way to interfere with it.

Bottom line: this listed concern doesn't apply to an eye medication. Still, since glaucoma treatment is important, it's always smart to run your full supplement list by your pharmacist or eye doctor just to be sure.
