Tragacanth contains hydrocolloidal fiber which can decrease, increase, or not affect oral drug absorption. To avoid changes in absorption, take tragacanth 30-60 minutes after oral medications.

Here's the simple version: tragacanth is mostly a gummy fiber that swells into a gel when it hits liquid. The concern with procarbazine, which you swallow as a capsule, is that this gel could grab onto the medicine in your stomach and change how much gets absorbed. It might slow it down, lower it, or sometimes not matter at all. This is a theoretical idea based on how the fiber behaves, not something proven in studies, so I don't want you to panic about it.

Still, procarbazine is a serious cancer drug where getting the right amount matters, so timing is the safe move. A common suggestion is to take tragacanth 30 to 60 minutes after your medicine, but please run this by your oncology team or pharmacist first before adding any supplement.
