Empagliflozin falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Vanadium interacts with.

Theoretically, vanadium might increase the risk of hypoglycemia when taken with antidiabetes drugs.
A few very small clinical studies in patients with type 2 diabetes show that the vanadyl sulfate form of vanadium increases insulin sensitivity and might lower blood glucose levels.

Here's the simple version: vanadium seems to act a little like insulin in the body, helping your cells pull in more sugar. Empagliflozin (Jardiance) lowers blood sugar in a totally different way, by making you pee out extra glucose through your kidneys. Stack the two together and you could push your blood sugar lower than intended.

On its own, Jardiance rarely causes serious lows, but adding vanadium tips the odds a bit. Watch for the usual warning signs: shakiness, sweating, dizziness, a racing heart, or feeling confused. The good news is the evidence here is fairly thin (a few small studies), and everyday food amounts of vanadium are tiny and unlikely to matter. It's the concentrated supplements you'd want to be careful with. Please check with your doctor or pharmacist before combining them.

About Empagliflozin

What Is Empagliflozin Used For?

Brand name: Jardiance

Jardiance (empagliflozin) tablets are approved for several important uses in adults. It reduces the risk of cardiovascular death and hospitalization in adults with heart failure. It also slows the progression of chronic kidney disease by reducing the risk of serious kidney decline, end-stage kidney disease, cardiovascular death, and hospitalization. In adults with type 2 diabetes and established cardiovascular disease, Jardiance reduces the risk of cardiovascular death.

Jardiance is also used — alongside diet and exercise — to improve blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes in adults and children aged 10 and older. It is not recommended for blood sugar control in type 1 diabetes (it may raise the risk of a dangerous condition called diabetic ketoacidosis) or in type 2 diabetes patients with severely reduced kidney function.
