Vanadium + Glyburide
Glyburide brand names: Diabeta, Micronase, Glynase, Glycron, Micronized, and others.
Vanadium has a moderate interaction with Glyburide. Theoretically, vanadium might increase the risk of hypoglycemia when taken with antidiabetes drugs.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
ANTIDIABETES DRUGS
Why this applies to Glyburide
Glyburide falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Vanadium interacts with.
A few very small clinical studies in patients with type 2 diabetes show that the vanadyl sulfate form of vanadium increases insulin sensitivity and might lower blood glucose levels.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's the simple version: glyburide already pushes your pancreas to release more insulin to bring blood sugar down. Vanadium, especially the vanadyl sulfate form sold in supplements, seems to act a little like insulin and may help your cells soak up sugar too. Stack the two together and your blood sugar could drop lower than expected. That can mean low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), with shakiness, sweating, dizziness, a racing heart, confusion, or feeling faint.
The evidence here comes from a few very small human studies, so this isn't a sure thing, but it's plausible enough to take seriously. Everyday food amounts of vanadium are not a concern. Before adding a vanadium supplement, please check with your pharmacist or doctor first, and don't change your glyburide dose on your own.

What These Ratings Mean
Every interaction above is graded three ways — here’s the key to each label.
Clinically significant. Avoid the combination, or use only under close professional supervision.
Usually worth avoiding or managing — may need monitoring, a dose change, or timing apart.
Generally not serious. Be aware of it and mention it to your pharmacist.
- LikelyWell-controlled human studies have demonstrated the likely existence of this interaction.
- ProbableInteraction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports.
- PossibleInteraction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
- UnlikelyInteraction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans.

About Vanadium
What is Vanadium?
- Blood sugar and diabetes support
- Athletic performance and muscle building
- Lowering cholesterol
- General trace-mineral supplementation
Vanadium is a trace mineral found in tiny amounts in food, and people get plenty from a normal diet. Supplement claims for diabetes, weight, and athletic performance are not well proven, and higher doses can be toxic. Most people do not need to supplement it, and you should check with your doctor or pharmacist before using it.
About Glyburide
What Is Glyburide Used For?
Brand names: Diabeta, Micronase, Glynase, Glycron, Micronized, Glynase PresTab, Albert Glyburide
Glyburide tablets are used along with diet and exercise to improve blood sugar (glycemic) control in adults with type 2 diabetes.
It is not for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.

Glyburide Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Glyburide as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Vanadium — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
