Vanadium + Semaglutide
Semaglutide brand names: Ozempic, Rybelsus, Wegovy.
Vanadium has a moderate interaction with Semaglutide. Theoretically, vanadium might increase the risk of hypoglycemia when taken with antidiabetes drugs.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
ANTIDIABETES DRUGS
Why this applies to Semaglutide
Semaglutide falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Vanadium interacts with.
A few very small clinical studies in patients with type 2 diabetes show that the vanadyl sulfate form of vanadium increases insulin sensitivity and might lower blood glucose levels.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's the simple version: semaglutide (Ozempic, Wegovy, Rybelsus) already works to lower your blood sugar. Vanadium, in supplement form, seems to act a little like insulin and can nudge your blood sugar down too. Stack the two together and you may get a bigger drop than you expected, which raises the chance of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). Watch for shakiness, sweating, dizziness, confusion, or sudden hunger.
Keep in mind this is based on a handful of very small studies using a specific form (vanadyl sulfate), so it's not rock solid. The tiny amount of vanadium in everyday food is not a concern. Before adding a vanadium supplement, please check with your doctor or pharmacist so your sugars can be watched.

What These Ratings Mean
Every interaction above is graded three ways — here’s the key to each label.
Clinically significant. Avoid the combination, or use only under close professional supervision.
Usually worth avoiding or managing — may need monitoring, a dose change, or timing apart.
Generally not serious. Be aware of it and mention it to your pharmacist.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Semaglutide page
“Semaglutide (Ozempic, Rybelsus, Wegovy) lowers blood sugar, and so do most of the 256 supplements on this page, which is why I read this list with real vigilance rather than a shrug. Nearly all of the entries either add to its glucose-lowering effect and raise the risk of hypoglycemia, or push sugar the other way and blunt it, as niaci…”

About Vanadium
What is Vanadium?
- Blood sugar and diabetes support
- Athletic performance and muscle building
- Lowering cholesterol
- General trace-mineral supplementation
Vanadium is a trace mineral found in tiny amounts in food, and people get plenty from a normal diet. Supplement claims for diabetes, weight, and athletic performance are not well proven, and higher doses can be toxic. Most people do not need to supplement it, and you should check with your doctor or pharmacist before using it.
About Semaglutide
What Is Semaglutide Used For?
Brand names: Ozempic, Rybelsus, Wegovy
Semaglutide is used for several conditions, depending on the product. Wegovy is used with a reduced-calorie diet and more physical activity to reduce excess body weight and keep it off long term. It is also used to lower the risk of major cardiovascular events (heart-related death, non-fatal heart attack, or non-fatal stroke) in adults with established cardiovascular disease and either obesity or overweight.
Wegovy injection is also used for adults with noncirrhotic MASH (a fatty liver disease) with moderate to advanced liver scarring, and for weight management in children 12 and older with obesity. Ozempic is an injection used with diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes. It also lowers the risk of major cardiovascular events in adults with type 2 diabetes and established cardiovascular disease. Ozempic is not for type 1 diabetes.

Semaglutide Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Semaglutide as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Vanadium — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
