Here's the honest picture with wild yam and your esterified estrogens (Menest, Estratab). In the test tube, wild yam has shown both estrogen-like and estrogen-blocking activity. Because of that lab behavior, there's a theory that it could nudge your hormone therapy in either direction, either adding to it or working against it. The catch is that this is purely theoretical, based on cell studies, not on real people taking the two together.

If it pushed your estrogen effect up, you might notice more breast tenderness, bloating, or spotting; if it worked against it, your hot flashes or vaginal dryness might creep back. We honestly can't predict which way. Since estrogen dosing matters, please run wild yam past your pharmacist or doctor before adding it.
