Dasiglucagon Hydrochloride falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Winter Cherry interacts with.

In animal diabetic models, winter cherry extract decreases blood glucose. This effect has not been shown in humans. Theoretically, winter cherry might have additive effects with antidiabetes drugs and increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Some antidiabetes drugs include glimepiride (Amaryl), glyburide (Diabeta, Glynase PresTab, Micronase), insulin, pioglitazone (Actos), rosiglitazone (Avandia), and others.

Here is the good news: this particular pairing is unlikely to cause you trouble. Dasiglucagon (Zegalogue) is the opposite of a blood-sugar-lowering drug. It is an emergency rescue medicine that tells your liver to dump stored sugar into your blood, raising it back up fast when you have a dangerous low.

The concern on file is that Winter Cherry (ashwagandha) might nudge blood sugar down and add to other diabetes drugs. But that idea comes only from animal and lab studies, not people, so it is theoretical and on the weak side. Even if it were real, lowering sugar would work against dasiglucagon, not stack with it. Practically speaking, you only reach for dasiglucagon during a severe low, so it is not a medicine you take daily alongside the herb. Still, mention any supplements to your pharmacist or doctor so your overall diabetes plan stays safe.

What Is Dasiglucagon Injection Used For?

Brand name: Zegalogue

Zegalogue (dasiglucagon) is used to treat severe hypoglycemia — dangerously low blood sugar — in adults and children aged 6 years and older who have diabetes. It is a rescue medication meant to be used in emergencies when a person cannot eat or drink to raise their blood sugar on their own.

Zegalogue is available as a subcutaneous (under-the-skin) injection and is given by a caregiver or the patient themselves as soon as severe hypoglycemia is recognized. Emergency medical help should be called immediately after using it.
