In animal diabetic models, winter cherry extract decreases blood glucose. This effect has not been shown in humans. Theoretically, winter cherry might have additive effects with antidiabetes drugs and increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Some antidiabetes drugs include glimepiride (Amaryl), glyburide (Diabeta, Glynase PresTab, Micronase), insulin, pioglitazone (Actos), rosiglitazone (Avandia), and others.

Here's the simple version: Tresiba (insulin degludec) is your long-acting insulin that keeps blood sugar steady throughout the day. In animal studies, Winter Cherry (ashwagandha) appeared to lower blood glucose on its own. That hasn't been proven in people, so this is really more of a theoretical concern than something we see happening clearly in the clinic.

Still, the worry is that adding a blood-sugar-lowering herb on top of your insulin could push your numbers too low. Watch for signs of low blood sugar, like shakiness, sweating, dizziness, confusion, or a racing heart. If you'd like to try Winter Cherry, check with your pharmacist or doctor first, and keep an eye on your home glucose readings so your insulin dose can be adjusted if needed.

What Is Insulin Degludec (rDNA Origin) Injection Used For?

Brand name: Tresiba

Insulin degludec (brand name Tresiba) is used to improve blood sugar (glucose) control in adults and children 1 year of age and older who have diabetes mellitus — including both type 1 and type 2 diabetes.

It is not recommended for treating diabetic ketoacidosis (a dangerous complication of diabetes that requires a different type of treatment). In people with type 1 diabetes, insulin degludec must always be used together with a short-acting insulin.
