Brexanolone falls under CNS DEPRESSANTS — the group Yin Chen interacts with.

Theoretically, yin chen might enhance the therapeutic and adverse effects of other CNS depressants.
Animal research shows that yin chen has sedative effects and can reduce motor activity and impair balance and coordination. When used in combination with pentobarbital, yin chen increases sleeping time when compared to pentobarbital alone.

Here's the gist with Yin Chen and brexanolone (Zulresso). Brexanolone is already a strong sedating medicine. In fact, it's given as a slow IV in a monitored setting partly because it can make you very drowsy, dizzy, or even cause sudden loss of consciousness. Yin Chen, in animal studies, has shown its own calming, sedative-type effects. Put the two together and the worry is simply extra sedation, more grogginess, trouble with balance, or feeling unsteady.

I'll be honest: this is a theoretical concern based on lab and animal work, not human data, so we don't know how real it is in people. Still, since brexanolone is so sedating on its own, it's worth mentioning Yin Chen to your care team before your infusion.
