Cetirizine falls under CNS DEPRESSANTS — the group Yin Chen interacts with.

Theoretically, yin chen might enhance the therapeutic and adverse effects of other CNS depressants.
Animal research shows that yin chen has sedative effects and can reduce motor activity and impair balance and coordination. When used in combination with pentobarbital, yin chen increases sleeping time when compared to pentobarbital alone.

Here's the gist: Cetirizine (Zyrtec) is a second-generation antihistamine, so it's much less sedating than older allergy meds, but it can still make some people feel drowsy or foggy. Yin Chen, in animal studies, seems to have a calming, sedative-type effect. Put the two together and the worry is simply that they could add up, leaving you sleepier, more tired, or a little off on your balance and focus.

I'll be honest with you though, this concern comes only from lab and animal research, not from people, so it's theoretical. Many folks would notice nothing. Still, if you decide to use both, go easy on driving or anything that needs sharp attention until you know how you feel, and check in with your pharmacist or doctor first.

What Is Cetirizine Injection Used For?

Brand names: Cetirizine, Zyrtec, Quzyttir

Quzyttir (cetirizine injection) is approved to treat acute urticaria — a sudden outbreak of hives — in adults and in children 6 months of age and older. It is given by intravenous (IV) injection in a medically supervised setting.

Quzyttir is not recommended for children under 6 years of age who have impaired kidney or liver function.
