ABC Sweet Tea Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking ABC Sweet Tea against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
ABC Sweet Tea is a powder blend with 6 active ingredients: three branched-chain amino acids (L-Leucine, L-Isoleucine, and L-Valine), plus L-Glutamine, Beta-Alanine, and Citrulline Malate. These are amino acids — building blocks your body uses for muscle repair and performance.
The product also contains inactive ingredients: Natural and Artificial Flavors, Sucralose (a sweetener), and Silicon Dioxide (an anti-caking agent).
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
L-Glutamine is effective for sickle cell disease, and possibly effective for HIV/AIDS-related wasting, postoperative recovery, and critical illness from trauma — though the evidence for those uses is not as strong. Beta-Alanine is possibly effective for athletic performance and physical performance.
For other uses listed — age-related cognitive decline, COPD, cognitive function, and menopausal symptoms — the evidence we have isn't established enough to rate. We hold no effectiveness data for the other ingredients in this blend.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
L-Glutamine is generally well tolerated in healthy adults, though side effects can include belching, bloating, constipation, diarrhea, flatulence, GI pain, headache, nausea, and vomiting — especially at high doses. People with kidney or liver disease should use it only under medical supervision.
Rare reports of dizziness and, in people with bipolar disorder, mania have been noted. Beta-Alanine is generally well tolerated but commonly causes a harmless tingling sensation (paresthesia) and skin flushing, usually starting on the scalp and spreading across the body within about 20 minutes, lasting roughly an hour.
L-Glutamine is likely safe in pregnancy and lactation. Beta-Alanine should be avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding due to insufficient safety data.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take anticonvulsant medications (seizure drugs), double-check with your pharmacist before using this product — L-Glutamine might reduce their effectiveness. For the other ingredients, no interactions are documented for the ones we could check, but we hold no data on L-Leucine, L-Isoleucine, L-Valine, or Citrulline Malate.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
ABC Sweet Tea is a branched-chain amino acid blend aimed at muscle recovery and athletic performance. If you're on an anticonvulsant medication, check with your pharmacist first — L-Glutamine might theoretically interfere with it.
People with kidney or liver disease, or those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, should talk to their doctor or pharmacist before starting.

ABC Sweet Tea by Core Nutritionals Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
ABC Sweet Tea by Core Nutritionals contains L-Glutamine, which has documented interactions with medications.
The most serious concern is with anticonvulsants (seizure medications): glutamine is metabolized to glutamate, an excitatory neurotransmitter that might theoretically reduce how well anticonvulsant drugs work. This interaction hasn't been reported in humans yet, but it's a Moderate-severity theoretical risk worth discussing with your doctor or pharmacist if you take seizure medication.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Additionally, we could not check L-Leucine, L-Isoleucine, L-Valine, or Citrulline Malate — we hold no interaction data for those. Beta-Alanine, which is also in this product, has no known interactions documented in our data.
Altogehter, these interactions span 50 individual medications. Before you start ABC Sweet Tea, run your exact medications through the search tool below, especially if you're on an anticonvulsant.
