Clobazam falls under ANTICONVULSANTS — the group Glutamine interacts with.

Theoretically, glutamine might antagonize the effects of anticonvulsant medications.
Glutamine is metabolized to the excitatory neurotransmitter glutamate. Glutamate might have antagonistic effects with anticonvulsant drugs. However, this interaction has not yet been reported in humans.

Here's the thinking behind this one. Your body can turn glutamine into glutamate, which is an excitatory brain chemical, basically one that revs up nerve activity. Clobazam (Onfi, Sympazan) works in the opposite direction by calming that activity down to control seizures. So in theory, loading up on glutamine might nudge against what clobazam is trying to do and slightly weaken seizure control.

I want to be honest with you though: this is a theoretical concern based on chemistry, not something that has actually been reported in people taking these together. Food amounts of glutamine are very unlikely to matter; concentrated supplement doses are the bigger question mark. Since seizure control is too important to gamble with, just run any glutamine supplement past your doctor or pharmacist before starting it.

What Is Clobazam Used For?

Clobazam is used as an add-on (adjunctive) treatment for seizures linked to Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome (LGS), a severe form of childhood-onset epilepsy. It is approved for patients 2 years of age and older.

This indication applies to all available forms: Sympazan (dissolving oral film), Onfi (tablets and oral suspension), and generic clobazam tablets and oral suspension.
