The capsule also contains inactive ingredients—methylcellulose, microcrystalline cellulose, and an enteric coating (a protective layer that helps the contents survive stomach acid and dissolve in the small intestine).

The evidence we hold doesn't establish that chicory is effective for neonatal jaundice, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, osteoarthritis, indigestion (dyspepsia), or high cholesterol (hyperlipidemia)—the data we have rates it insufficient. Chicory is generally well tolerated in food amounts but may cause gas, bloating, belching, and abdominal pain in some people. It can also trigger allergies in those sensitive to the ragweed family (Asteraceae/Compositae)—including people who react to ragweed, chrysanthemums, marigolds, and daisies.
Traditional sources warn that chicory may stimulate the uterus, so it's best avoided in medicinal amounts during pregnancy. Safety data for medicinal amounts while breastfeeding are not reliable enough, so it's best avoided then too.
Akkermansia muciniphila appears generally well tolerated in short-term use based on small human studies, but long-term safety data are limited.
