What’s inside

Low disclosure
Ingredient Transparency · database check
Low

Most active ingredients don't disclose an individual amount — you can't tell how much of each you're getting.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 0 of its 8 active ingredients.
  • “Amino Acid Complex blend” is a proprietary blend — the label gives one combined amount (2,000 mg) without saying how much of each component you get.
  • “Bound Amino Acid Source Blend” is a proprietary blend — the label doesn't break down how much of each component you get.
  • “Plus Amino Acid Blend” is a proprietary blend — the label doesn't break down how much of each component you get.

NusaPure Amino Acid Complex 2000 contains 8 active ingredients: L-Glutamine, Whey Protein Isolate, L-Arginine, Soy Protein Isolate, L-Ornithine, L-Glutathione, Sodium Caseinate, and Bovine Hydrolyzed Collagen. These are amino acids and protein sources designed to support muscle function and recovery.

The product also contains inactive ingredients (cellulose, silica, magnesium stearate, and rice flour) that help hold the capsule together and improve stability.

Does it work?

Moderate evidence
Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Moderate

Some clinical evidence supports this product's ingredients for its stated purpose, but it isn't conclusive.

Why this rating?
  • The label markets this product for: Muscle building, recovery and athletic performance.
  • We looked for evidence on: Athletic performance, Exercise-induced muscle damage, Exercise-induced muscle soreness, Muscle strength, Postoperative recovery, Critical illness (trauma) — and 3 related terms.
  • The strongest evidence on file: Ornithine is rated "Possibly Effective" for Athletic performance (Natural Medicines).
  • Also on file: Whey Protein is rated "Possibly Effective" for Athletic performance.
  • Also on file: Glutamine is rated "Possibly Effective" for Critical illness (trauma), Postoperative recovery.

The evidence for this product's ingredients is mixed and depends on the specific use. L-Glutamine is effective for sickle cell disease and possibly effective for HIV/AIDS-related wasting, postoperative recovery, and critical illness from trauma.

Whey Protein may help athletic performance but showed no clear benefit for bone health or COPD. L-Ornithine is possibly effective for athletic performance.

L-Arginine has no established effectiveness ratings in our data. Sodium Caseinate and Bovine Hydrolyzed Collagen show insufficient evidence or no clear benefit for most uses, though collagen may help with aging and dry skin.

Overall, the evidence doesn't establish that this blend works for any single condition—talk with your pharmacist about what you're trying to achieve.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 5 of the 6 matched ingredients.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 6 of 6.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 6 of 6.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Most of these ingredients are generally well tolerated in healthy adults at normal doses. L-Glutamine is likely safe during pregnancy and lactation.

L-Arginine is possibly safe in pregnancy but data on lactation is incomplete; it can lower blood pressure, so caution is advised. L-Ornithine should be avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding due to insufficient safety data.

Whey Protein and Sodium Caseinate are generally well tolerated as food proteins; high-dose supplements haven't been extensively studied. Bovine Hydrolyzed Collagen is not well studied in pregnancy and lactation.

Common side effects from these ingredients include bloating, nausea, diarrhea, constipation, and headache. People with kidney or liver disease should use L-Glutamine only under medical supervision.

At least one ingredient has a documented Major-severity interaction. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 3 of the 6 matched ingredients can interact with medications — Whey Protein, L-arginine, Glutamine.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Major.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: anticoagulant / antiplatelet drugs; seizure medications; diabetes medications; Parkinson's medications.
  • For scale: 504 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

Before taking NusaPure Amino Acid Complex 2000, double-check with your pharmacist if you take levodopa (Parkinson's medication)—a Major interaction. Also verify any blood pressure medications, blood thinners, diabetes medications, potassium-sparing diuretics, ACE inhibitors, ARBs, antibiotics (especially quinolones or tetracyclines), bisphosphonates, or erectile dysfunction medications like sildenafil.

These carry Moderate interactions.

Amino Acid Complex 2000 by NusaPure: Common Questions

Does Amino Acid Complex 2000 by NusaPure interact with any medications?
Yes. Based on its ingredients, Amino Acid Complex 2000 has a known interaction with 504 medications, including 5 rated major. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Amino Acid Complex 2000 contains 3 active ingredients, and an interaction can come from any of them. We check every ingredient, combine the results into one list per medication, and show which ingredient and mechanism is responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Can I take this if I'm pregnant or breastfeeding?
It depends on which ingredient you're asking about. L-Glutamine is likely safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding. L-Arginine is possibly safe in pregnancy but we don't have enough data on breastfeeding. L-Ornithine should be avoided in both—not enough safety data exists. For the others, safety data during pregnancy and breastfeeding is incomplete or absent. Talk with your doctor before using this product if you're pregnant or breastfeeding.
Does whey protein in this product interact with antibiotics?
Yes. Whey protein contains minerals like calcium that can bind to certain antibiotics in your stomach and reduce how much your body absorbs. If you take quinolone or tetracycline antibiotics, take them at least 2 hours before or 4–6 hours after this product. Ask your pharmacist about your specific antibiotic.
What are the most common side effects?
The most common side effects are digestive: bloating, nausea, diarrhea, constipation, and gas. Headache, abdominal pain, and flushing are also reported. Most are dose-related and mild, but stop and call your doctor if you experience chest pain, severe headache, or difficulty breathing.
Will this help me build muscle or improve athletic performance?
Some ingredients—L-Glutamine and L-Ornithine—are possibly effective for athletic performance. Whey protein and casein are protein sources that support muscle protein synthesis. But this product as a whole hasn't been tested for athletic performance, and the evidence for individual ingredients is limited. Your diet, training, and overall routine matter far more.
Is this safe if I have kidney or liver disease?
Not without medical supervision. L-Glutamine in particular requires close monitoring if you have kidney or liver disease. Talk to your doctor before using this product.
What's the difference between the amino acids in this product?
Each amino acid has a different role. L-Glutamine supports gut and immune function. L-Arginine affects blood vessels and blood pressure. L-Ornithine and L-Glutathione support cellular function and antioxidant defense. The whey, casein, soy proteins, and collagen are amino acid sources that help your muscles repair after exercise or stress.
