Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
This teapill blend contains four ingredients. The main active components are Angelica sinensis root extract (also called Dong Quai), Atractylodes macrocephala rhizome extract, Ziziphus jujuba fruit extract, and Ligusticum rhizome extract, combined in a proprietary blend.
The inactive ingredients are talcum and china wax.
Does it work?
Not established
The evidence for what this product actually does is limited. For the ingredients we have data on—Dong Quai (Angelica sinensis) and Atractylodes—the studies we hold show insufficient reliable evidence to rate their use for iron deficiency anemia, osteoporosis, heart disease, migraines, eczema, poor appetite, diarrhea, colds, and cachexia (wasting).
We don't have effectiveness ratings on file for Ziziphus jujuba and Ligusticum.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Dong Quai is generally well tolerated, with burping and flatulence as the most commonly reported side effects. It can increase bleeding risk and may make your skin sensitive to sunlight.
Avoid it during pregnancy—it may stimulate the uterus and affect menstrual bleeding. There isn't enough safety data to use it while breastfeeding.
Atractylodes has limited safety data in humans, though allergic reactions, dry mouth, and nausea have been reported. The safety facts advise against using it during pregnancy due to insufficient data, and breastfeeding safety is unknown so it should be avoided then too.
Both ingredients are traditionally used, but human safety studies remain limited.
Meds to double-check
Major interaction found
Check before you start if you take warfarin or other blood thinners (anticoagulants) or antiplatelet drugs—these carry the most serious risk. Also double-check if you take estrogens like hormone replacement therapy, aromatase inhibitors, hexobarbital, or any drugs metabolized by your liver.
No interactions are documented for Ziziphus jujuba and Ligusticum, as we could not check those ingredients.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Major medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
If you take any blood thinners—including warfarin or other anticoagulants—do not start this product without checking with your pharmacist or doctor first. The same goes for hormone replacement therapy or cancer medications.
If you're pregnant or breastfeeding, talk to your pharmacist before use. For anyone else, run your medications through the interaction checker on this page.

Angelica Dang Gui Teapills by Min Shan Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Min Shan's Angelica Dang Gui Teapills contains two ingredients with documented interactions.
The most serious concern is with blood thinners (anticoagulants): Angelica sinensis (Dong Quai) carries a Major interaction with warfarin and may increase bleeding risk. Case reports show that taking Dong Quai alongside warfarin can boost warfarin's blood-thinning effects, raising the risk of dangerous bleeding.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Dong Quai also has Moderate interactions with other blood thinners and antiplatelet drugs—the same type of bleeding-risk concern applies. Additionally, it may theoretically reduce the effects of estrogens such as hormone replacement therapy, because Dong Quai itself has estrogenic properties.
Atractylodes macrocephala carries Moderate interactions with blood thinners and antiplatelet drugs (animal studies suggest it reduces platelet clotting), aromatase inhibitors (hormonal cancer drugs), and the sedative hexobarbital. It also has Minor interactions with certain liver-metabolized drugs.
Ziziphus jujuba and Ligusticum were not checked—we hold no interaction data for them.
Altogether, these interactions span 795 individual medications. Use the interaction checker on this page with your exact medications before you start.

Atractylodes macrocephala Rhizome Extract
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, atractylodes might increase the risk of bleeding when used concomitantly with anticoagulant and antiplatelet drugs.
Laboratory research suggests that atractylenolides II and III, constituents of atractylodes, reduce platelet activation. So far, this has not been shown in humans.
Aromatase Inhibitors
Theoretically, atractylodes may have an additive effect when used with other aromatase inhibitors.
Laboratory research suggests that atractylodes and its constituents exhibit aromatase inhibitor effects.
Hexobarbital
Theoretically, taking atractylodes may prolong the therapeutic and adverse effects of hexobarbital.
In animals, atractylodes has been shown to prolong the effects of hexobarbital. These effects have not been shown in humans.
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates
Theoretically, atractylodes might decrease the levels of CYP1A2 substrates.
In animals, atractylodes administered at high doses has been shown to induce CYP1A2 activity. This effect has not been shown in humans.
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
Theoretically, atractylodes might increase the levels of CYP3A4 substrates.
In animals, atractylodes administered at high doses has been shown to inhibit CYP3A1 activity, which is a homolog to the human CYP3A4 enzyme. This effect has not been shown in humans.
Ziziphus jujuba Fruit Extract
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, zizyphus might increase the risk of hypoglycemia when taken with antidiabetes drugs.
Animal research shows that zizyphus has hypoglycemic activity. However, a small clinical study shows that zizyphus fruit powder does not reduce fasting blood glucose levels in patients with type 2 diabetes.
Cns Depressants
Theoretically, zizyphus might cause additive sedative effects when taken with CNS depressants.
Some animal research has found that various parts of zizyphus have sedative effects. However, other animal research shows that zizyphus plant extract does not alter sleep parameters when used in combination with pentobarbital.
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates
Theoretically, zizyphus might decrease the levels and clinical effects of drugs metabolized by CYP1A2.
Animal research shows that zizyphus induces CYP1A2 enzymes. However, this effect has not been reported in humans.
Angelica sinensis Root Extract
Warfarin (Coumadin)
Dong quai may increase the risk of bleeding when used with warfarin.
Case reports suggest that concomitant use of dong quai with warfarin can increase the anticoagulant effects of warfarin and increase the risk of bleeding. In one case, after 4 weeks of taking dong quai 565 mg once or twice daily, the international normalized ratio (INR) increased to 4.9. The INR normalized 4 weeks after discontinuation of dong quai.
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, dong quai may increase the risk of bleeding when used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs; however, research is conflicting.
Animal studies suggest that dong quai has antithrombin activity and inhibits platelet aggregation due to its coumarin components. Additionally, some case reports in humans suggest that dong quai can increase the anticoagulant effects of warfarin. However, clinical research in healthy adults shows that taking 1 gram of dong quai root daily for 3 weeks does not significantly inhibit platelet aggregation or cause bleeding. Until more is known, use dong quai with caution in patients taking antiplatelet/anticoagulant drugs.
Estrogens
Theoretically, dong quai may reduce the effects of estrogens.
Dong quai has estrogenic effects. Theoretically, concomitant use of large amounts of dong quai might interfere with hormone replacement therapy due to competition for estrogen receptors.
