HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Apidren 400 mg by NutriPharm
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
Apidren has two active ingredients: CardiaSlim Proprietary Blend (a combination of herbs and botanicals) and Sphaeranthus indicus flower extract. The product also contains mangosteen fruit rind extract.
The inactive ingredients are microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, and silicon dioxide — these are fillers and binders that help hold the capsule together.
Does it work?
Not established
Mangosteen extract in this product has been studied for a few conditions. It's rated possibly effective for periodontitis (gum infection).
For male-pattern hair loss, Alzheimer disease, and eczema, the evidence we hold is insufficient to say whether it works. We don't have effectiveness ratings for the CardiaSlim blend or Sphaeranthus indicus in our data.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Mangosteen extract is generally well tolerated, though long-term safety of supplements hasn't been thoroughly studied. In trials at doses up to 560 mg daily, a small number of participants reported tiredness, headache, dizziness, mild stomach issues (nausea, constipation, bloating), and respiratory symptoms like cough or nasal congestion — though it's unclear if mangosteen caused them.
During pregnancy, the safety data advises against using mangosteen supplements. The same goes for breastfeeding — there isn't enough information to know whether it's safe, so talk with your doctor or pharmacist for personalized advice.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you take Apidren, double-check if you're on blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs (warfarin, aspirin, clopidogrel, and others) — mangosteen may increase bleeding risk. If you take donepezil for Alzheimer disease, mention this product to your pharmacist as well.
One ingredient (Sphaeranthus indicus) we couldn't check for interactions, so a complete medication review is important.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Apidren may be worth considering if you're interested in mangosteen for gum health, but if you take blood thinners, antiplatelet drugs, or donepezil, check with your pharmacist first. The interactions are real enough to warrant a quick medication review before you start.

Garcinia mangostana [fruit rind] extract
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, concomitant use of mangosteen with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs may increase the risk of bleeding.
In vitro and animal research shows that gamma-mangostin, a constituent of mangosteen, is a potent and competitive antagonist of the serotonin 2A (5-HT2A) receptor. Antagonism of the 5-HT2A receptor is believed to reduce platelet aggregation.
Donepezil (Aricept)
Theoretically, concomitant use of mangosteen with donepezil might increase the effects of donepezil.
Animal research shows that concomitant use of an aqueous extract of mangosteen pericarp with donepezil increases brain concentrations of donepezil at 4 hours by 64% without associated effects on systemic exposure.
