Mangosteen + Naproxen
Naproxen brand names: Naprosyn, Naprelan, Anaprox, Anaprox DS, Naproxyn, and others.
Mangosteen has a moderate interaction with Naproxen. Theoretically, concomitant use of mangosteen with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs may increase the risk of bleeding.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS
Why this applies to Naproxen
Naproxen falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Mangosteen interacts with.
In vitro and animal research shows that gamma-mangostin, a constituent of mangosteen, is a potent and competitive antagonist of the serotonin 2A (5-HT2A) receptor. Antagonism of the 5-HT2A receptor is believed to reduce platelet aggregation.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist: naproxen, like other NSAIDs, already makes your platelets a little less sticky, which is part of why it can irritate the stomach and raise bleeding risk. Mangosteen contains a compound (gamma-mangostin) that, in lab and animal studies, may also slow platelet clumping. Stack the two and, in theory, you could bruise more easily or have a higher chance of stomach or other bleeding.
I want to be honest about the evidence here. This is based only on test-tube and animal research, not real people, so it's a theoretical concern rather than a proven one. Eating mangosteen as fruit is unlikely to be a problem. Concentrated juices or capsules taken daily are where I'd be more cautious. If you notice unusual bruising, dark stools, or stomach pain, or you're on naproxen long-term, check with your pharmacist or doctor first.

About Mangosteen
What is Mangosteen?
- Antioxidant support
- Anti-inflammatory support
- Immune support
- Skin health
- General wellness
Mangosteen is a tropical fruit whose rind is rich in plant compounds called xanthones that act as antioxidants. While it is popular in juices and supplements for inflammation, immune support, and general wellness, strong human evidence for these benefits is limited. It is likely fine as a food, but talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using concentrated supplements.

Naproxen Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Naproxen as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Mangosteen — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
