Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: apple powder. It's made from whole apple and provides the nutrients and compounds you'd get from eating a fresh apple, in a concentrated form.
There is also an inactive ingredient (maltodextrin, a filler) to make up the powder.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence we hold does not establish whether apple powder works for Alzheimer disease, cancer, dental plaque, diabetes, or diarrhea — the data is insufficient to rate it reliably for any of these uses. If you're thinking about this product to treat a health condition, ask your pharmacist what the evidence actually supports.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Apple as a food is well tolerated in normal amounts. The most common mild side effects are bloating and flatulence.
Serious adverse effects are rare but can occur: allergic reactions, including a severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis), can happen — especially if you're allergic to other fruits in the same family (apricot, almond, plum, peach, pear, strawberry). Eating large amounts of apple seeds, which contain cyanide, may cause poisoning and serious harm.
For pregnancy and breastfeeding: apples eaten as food are considered safe during pregnancy and while breastfeeding. There isn't enough data on concentrated apple supplements in pregnancy or breastfeeding, so talk with your doctor or pharmacist if you're pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or nursing and want to use this product.
Meds to double-check
Major interaction found
Double-check this product before taking it if you use OATP substrate medications (especially fexofenadine, atenolol, or aliskiren) — apple can cut their levels significantly. Also check with your pharmacist if you take blood pressure drugs, blood sugar medications, or lithium, as apple may interfere with how they work.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Major medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Apple powder is generally well tolerated as a food supplement if you have no apple allergy. The main concern is if you take blood pressure medications (especially atenolol or aliskiren), allergy medications like fexofenadine, blood sugar drugs, or lithium — apple can lower their blood levels or effectiveness.
Check your medications with the tool on this page before starting. If you're interested in this for a specific health condition, the evidence isn't strong enough yet to recommend it for most uses.

Apple Powder 5 g by BulkSupplements.com Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Apple Powder by BulkSupplements.com can interact with a number of medications, and the most serious concern is with a class of drugs called OATP substrates (organic anion-transporting polypeptide substrates) — a Major interaction.
Apple can significantly lower the blood levels of drugs in this class, including fexofenadine (an antihistamine), atenolol (a beta-blocker for heart and blood pressure), and aliskiren (a blood pressure medication), sometimes cutting levels by more than half.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Moderate interactions are documented with blood pressure drugs overall, blood sugar medications, lithium (a mood stabilizer), and the specific medications fexofenadine, atenolol, and aliskiren. Apple can raise blood pressure in some people and may raise blood glucose levels, potentially interfering with how these drugs work.
With atenolol, research shows apple juice reduces its levels by 58% to 82%. Altogether, these interactions span 297 individual medications.
If you take any of these drug types or any prescription medication, run the exact names through the checker below before you start this product. Do not stop or adjust doses on your own — talk to your pharmacist or doctor about timing or whether apple powder is right for you.

Apple, Powder
Organic Anion-Transporting Polypeptide Substrates (Oatp)
Concomitant consumption of apple juice can significantly decrease oral absorption and blood levels of OATP substrates.
Research shows that consuming apple juice inhibits OATP, which reduces bioavailability of oral drugs that are substrates of OATP. Fexofenadine, atenolol, and aliskiren are substrates of OATP. Clinical research shows that coadministration of apple juice decreases bioavailability of fexofenadine by up to 78%, aliskiren by 63%, and atenolol by up to 82%. These effects appear to increase with larger quantities of apple juice. It is thought that apple juice might affect OATP for only a short time. Therefore, separating drug administration and consumption of apple juice by at least 4 hours might avoid this interaction.
Aliskiren (Tekturna, Rasilez)
Concomitant consumption of apple juice can significantly decrease oral absorption and blood levels of aliskiren.
Pharmacokinetic research shows that coadministration of apple juice 200 mL along with aliskiren 150 mg decreases the bioavailability of aliskiren by 63%. Apple juice seems to inhibit organic anion transporting polypeptide (OATP), which is involved in drug uptake in the gut, liver, and kidney. It is thought that apple juice might affect OATP for only a short time. Therefore, separating drug administration and consumption of apple juice by at least 4 hours might avoid this interaction.
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, consuming apple juice with antidiabetes drugs might interfere with blood glucose control.
Clinical research suggests that consuming apples or drinking apple juice can raise blood glucose levels, with the effects of drinking apple juice being more significant than consuming apples.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Consuming apple juice with antihypertensive drugs might interfere with blood pressure control.
Some clinical evidence suggests that consuming apple and cherry juice can increase blood pressure in elderly patients.
Atenolol (Tenormin)
Concomitant consumption of apple juice can significantly decrease oral absorption and blood levels of atenolol.
Pharmacokinetic research shows that coadministration of apple juice 600-1200 mL decreases levels of atenolol by 58% to 82% in a dose-dependent manner.
Fexofenadine (Allegra)
Concomitant consumption of apple juice can significantly decrease oral absorption and blood levels of fexofenadine.
Pharmacokinetic research shows that coadministration of apple juice 400-1200 mL along with fexofenadine 60-120 mg decreases bioavailability of fexofenadine by up to 78%. Coadministration with smaller quantities of apple juice (150 mL or less) does not appear to affect the bioavailability of fexofenadine.
Lithium
There is some concern that concomitant consumption of apple juice might decrease oral absorption and blood levels of lithium.
In one case report, a patient had an undetectable serum lithium level when lithium citrate was administered with apple juice. When lithium was administered with an alternative beverage, the lithium level became detectable and the patient demonstrated clinical improvement.
