Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not assessable

This is a single-ingredient Terminalia product and its label doesn't state a use — see Terminalia's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • We looked at the product name, claims, and label statements and couldn't find a stated purpose to grade.

The evidence for Arjuna's effectiveness isn't established in our data. Studies have looked at its potential role in high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obesity, and angina, but there isn't enough reliable evidence yet to rate how well it works for any of these.

If you're considering it for a specific health concern, talk it over with your doctor or pharmacist about what the current research shows and whether it's right for you.

How safe is it?

Some data gaps
Safety Information · database check
Some gaps

Safety data exists for these ingredients, but with some important gaps.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 0 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Arjuna is generally well tolerated in short-term studies, but long-term safety data is limited and quality can vary between products. The safety information during pregnancy and breastfeeding isn't strong enough to recommend use — the data advises against taking it if you're pregnant or nursing.

If you're in either situation and interested in Arjuna, discuss it with your doctor or pharmacist for personalized guidance.

Moderate interaction found

Moderate identified

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — Terminalia.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: anticoagulant / antiplatelet drugs; diabetes medications.
  • For scale: 934 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

Before taking Arjuna, double-check with your pharmacist or doctor if you're on any of these: drugs broken down by your liver's CYP3A4, CYP2D6, or CYP2C9 enzymes (a very common group that includes many blood pressure, heart, and psychiatric medications); blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs; diabetes medications; chlorzoxazone (a muscle relaxant); or omeprazole (a reflux medication). No interactions are documented for any other ingredients in this product.

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and some safety-information gaps remain.

Arjuna might appeal to you if you're looking for traditional heart and circulatory support — but it has moderate interactions with a very large number of medications, mainly through how your liver processes drugs. If you take any prescription medications at all, check them against this product before starting.
