Bio.Me Barrier Ingredients & Drug Interactions
by Invivo
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Bio.Me Barrier against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Bio.Me Barrier by Invivo
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
Bio.Me Barrier contains 9 active probiotic ingredients: the checked ones are Bifidobacterium bifidum and Lactobacillus acidophilus, plus several others (Bifidobacterium lactis W51, Bifidobacterium lactis W52, Lactobacillus brevis W63, Lactobacillus casei W56, Lactobacillus salivarius W24, Lactobacillus lactis W19, and Lactococcus lactis W58) for which we hold no interaction data. The powder also contains inactive ingredients like maize starch, maltodextrin, and inulin as carriers and prebiotics.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence is mixed. Bifidobacterium bifidum and Lactobacillus acidophilus are both rated possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome — meaning there's some promise, but the science isn't ironclad yet.
L. acidophilus is also possibly effective for Helicobacter pylori, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis. For other conditions like hay fever, anxiety, and Alzheimer's disease, we don't have enough reliable evidence to say either way.
The effectiveness of the other strains in this blend isn't established in the data we hold.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Both Bifidobacterium bifidum and Lactobacillus acidophilus are generally well tolerated in healthy people. Side effects like bloating, flatulence, and mild stomach discomfort can occur when you take probiotics, but they're uncommon with these species in particular.
If you have a weakened immune system, check with your doctor first — live probiotics carry a theoretical risk in that situation. Pregnancy and lactation data are limited; the available information suggests B. bifidum may be possibly safe in pregnancy, but there's not enough to be certain.
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this if you're pregnant or nursing.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take antibiotic drugs, hold off on this supplement or space them out — the antibiotics can kill the live organisms in the probiotics. We couldn't check six of the nine strains in this product for interactions, so ask your pharmacist about your specific medications.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Bio.Me Barrier may help with IBS, certain infections, and diarrhea linked to antibiotics, though the evidence is preliminary. If you're on antibiotics, separate them from this supplement by a few hours.
Those with weakened immunity should check with their doctor first. For anyone else, it's generally well tolerated — run your medications through the checker on this page to be sure.
