HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Caraway 800 by New You Vitamins
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
Caraway 800 contains one active ingredient: caraway seed extract, derived from the seeds of the caraway plant. The product also contains gelatin and microcrystalline cellulose as inactive ingredients (a capsule shell and filler).
Caraway has a long history in traditional medicine for digestive comfort. The extract contains active compounds including carvone, which animal studies suggest may have mild sedative properties and effects on blood sugar and fluid balance.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence in our data supports caraway as possibly effective for dyspepsia—that's indigestion or upper belly discomfort. For amenorrhea (absent menstruation), asthma, constipation, and flatulence, the evidence we hold is insufficient to establish whether it works.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Caraway is generally well tolerated in the amounts found in food. At concentrated supplement doses, safety data are more limited.
The safety notes advise against medicinal or oil doses during pregnancy; food amounts are probably fine, but the data are sparse. While breastfeeding, food amounts are likely safe, but the safety of concentrated supplements is not well studied.
In combination with peppermint oil, caraway oil has caused allergic reactions in a person with asthma history, as well as heartburn-like symptoms, belching, nausea, and vomiting—though it's unclear whether caraway, peppermint, or the combination was responsible.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you take Caraway 800, double-check with your pharmacist if you're on CNS depressants (sedatives, sleep aids, pain relievers), diabetes medications, water pills (diuretics), lithium, or TB drugs like isoniazid, rifampin, or pyrazinamide. These have documented moderate or minor interactions with caraway seed extract.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Caraway 800 may help with indigestion. It's safe in food amounts, but talk to your pharmacist if you take CNS depressants, diabetes drugs, water pills, lithium, or tuberculosis medications—interactions are possible.
Avoid medicinal doses in pregnancy, and breastfeeding mothers should check first.

Caraway 800 by New You Vitamins Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Caraway 800 by New You Vitamins contains caraway seed extract, which has documented moderate interactions with several common medication types.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
The most serious concern is with drugs that slow the central nervous system (CNS depressants)—like sedatives, sleep aids, and certain pain relievers. Animal research suggests caraway's active compounds may add to their sedative effects, potentially making you drowsier or more impaired than the medication alone would.
Caraway also theoretically raises the risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) when combined with diabetes medications, and may increase potassium loss if you take water pills (diuretics) that deplete potassium. It may also slow how your body clears lithium, a mood stabilizer, which could raise lithium levels to unsafe ranges.
Additionally, animal studies hint that caraway might increase levels of three tuberculosis drugs—isoniazid, rifampin, and pyrazinamide—though this has not been seen in humans and the severity is lower.
Altogether, these interactions span 412 individual medications. Use the medication checker on this page to look up your exact prescriptions before you start.

Caraway seed extract
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, caraway might increase the risk of hypoglycemia when used with antidiabetes drugs.
Animal research suggests that caraway can reduce blood glucose levels. Monitor blood glucose levels closely. Medication dose adjustments may be necessary.
Cns Depressants
Theoretically, caraway might increase the effects and adverse effects of CNS depressants.
Animal research suggests that (S)-(+)-carvone, a major constituent of caraway seed extract, has sedative effects.
Diuretic Drugs
Theoretically, caraway might increase the risk of hypokalemia when used with diuretics that deplete potassium.
Animal research suggests that a single dose of caraway fruit extract can promote diuresis and increase the urinary excretion of sodium and potassium. However, sub-chronic use of caraway fruit extract does not seem to significantly increase potassium excretion, although urine output continues to be increased for up to 6 days.
Lithium
Theoretically, caraway might reduce excretion and increase levels of lithium due to diuretic effects.
Animal research suggests that caraway fruit extract has diuretic properties.
Isoniazid
Theoretically, caraway might increase the effects and adverse effects of isoniazid.
Animal research suggests that a specific fraction of caraway seed extract (CC-1a) can increase plasma levels of isoniazid when administered concomitantly. This interaction has not been reported in humans.
Pyrazinamide
Theoretically, caraway might increase the effects and adverse effects of pyrazinamide.
Animal research suggests that a specific fraction of caraway seed extract (CC-1a) can increase plasma levels of pyrazinamide when administered concomitantly. This interaction has not been reported in humans.
Rifampin (Rifadin)
Theoretically, caraway might increase the effects and adverse effects of rifampin.
Animal research suggests that a specific fraction of caraway seed extract (CC-1a) can increase plasma levels of rifampin when administered concomitantly. This interaction has not been reported in humans.
