Chaga Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Chaga against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

What’s inside
Low disclosure
This powder contains one active ingredient: beta-glucans derived from chaga (Inonotus obliquus) sclerotium extract. Beta-glucans are a type of soluble fiber found naturally in mushrooms and certain grains; they're thought to support your immune system and heart health.
There are no other inactive ingredients listed.
Does it work?
Not established
The data we have shows beta-glucans are likely effective for two main purposes: lowering cholesterol (dyslipidemia) and supporting heart health in coronary heart disease. These findings come from clinical research, though the strength of that evidence is specific to those conditions.
The supplement hasn't been studied for other uses in the data we hold.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Beta-glucans from food sources are generally well tolerated, and most people don't report problems. That said, concentrated supplements like this powder lack the kind of long-term safety testing that whole foods have — so use caution, especially if you're taking other medications.
There's little research on supplement doses during breastfeeding; talk with your doctor or pharmacist if you're nursing. When taken by mouth, adverse effects are uncommon; a very small number of people in trials experienced mild, temporary liver enzyme elevations or mild skin reactions.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Double-check this product if you take blood pressure drugs (antihypertensives) or immunosuppressants before starting. Both are Moderate severity interactions.
Use the medication checker on this page to look up your specific drugs.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Chaga may help with cholesterol and heart health if that's a goal for you. If you're on blood pressure medication or take drugs that suppress your immune system, you'll need to check with your pharmacist first — this supplement could interfere.
Talk to your pharmacist before starting, especially if you take any regular medications.

HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
HealthForce SuperFoods Chaga is a single-ingredient powder containing beta-glucans, which does interact with some medications.
The most serious concern is with blood pressure drugs (antihypertensives): beta-glucans may lower your blood pressure further, raising the risk of dangerously low blood pressure (hypotension). This is a Moderate severity interaction.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Beta-glucans also carry a Moderate interaction with immunosuppressants — drugs that weaken your immune system on purpose (like those taken after transplants or for autoimmune conditions). The supplement may stimulate your immune system, potentially interfering with how these medications work.
Altogether, these interactions span 287 individual medications. If you take any blood pressure medication or immunosuppressant, check your exact drugs with the tool on this page before you start.
