Chromium Concentrate Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Chromium Concentrate against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Chromium Concentrate by Complete H2O Minerals
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This liquid concentrate contains 2 active ingredients: chromium and chloride. Chromium is a mineral your body uses to help manage blood sugar and insulin.
Chloride is an electrolyte that helps maintain fluid balance and nerve function. The product also contains purified water and chromium chloride (the chromium source itself) as inactive ingredients.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
Chromium is likely effective for chromium deficiency. For type 2 diabetes, the evidence is mixed — it's rated possibly effective, meaning some research supports a benefit but it's not conclusive.
For prediabetes (impaired glucose tolerance), schizophrenia, and high blood pressure, the evidence we have does not support benefit — those are rated possibly ineffective.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Orally, chromium is generally well tolerated at typical supplement doses. Common mild side effects include gastrointestinal irritation, headaches, insomnia, and irritability.
Rare serious effects — kidney or liver damage, muscle breakdown (rhabdomyolysis), and low platelet counts — have been reported, usually at high doses over long periods. Skin rashes and contact dermatitis can occur, especially in people with chromium allergy.
The safety data on higher supplement doses is limited, so it's best to avoid extra chromium unless your doctor recommends it.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you take this, double-check any diabetes medications or insulin you're on — chromium can add to their blood-sugar-lowering effect. If you take thyroid hormone (levothyroxine), you'll need to space doses apart.
NSAIDs and aspirin may increase chromium absorption, though this is a minor concern.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with clinical evidence supporting its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Chromium concentrate may help if you have a chromium deficiency or are managing type 2 diabetes, but it's not established for other uses. If you take diabetes or thyroid medication, or use NSAIDs or aspirin regularly, check your specific drugs with us before starting.

Chromium Concentrate by Complete H2O Minerals Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Chromium Concentrate by Complete H2O Minerals contains chromium, which does interact with several medication types.
The most serious concern is with diabetes drugs and insulin — chromium may lower blood sugar on its own, and when combined with these medications, it could push your blood sugar too low (hypoglycemia). This is a Moderate severity interaction.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Chromium also interacts with levothyroxine (thyroid hormone; Synthroid and others) at Moderate severity — it can bind to the hormone in your gut and reduce how much your body absorbs, lowering thyroid hormone levels by up to 17% in studies. If you take thyroid medication, you'll want to space out your doses.
NSAIDs and aspirin are Minor concerns — they may increase how much chromium your body absorbs and hold on to.
We could not check chloride for interactions because we hold no data for it. Altogether, these interactions span 178 individual medications.
Use the medication checker on this page to look up your exact drugs before you start.

For each ingredient in Chromium Concentrate with known interactions, here are the types of medications it can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Chromium
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, chromium may have additive effects with antidiabetic agents and increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Some research shows that taking chromium might lower blood glucose levels, especially in patients with poorly controlled type 2 diabetes.
Insulin
Theoretically, concomitant use of chromium and insulin might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
In clinical research, chromium has been shown to increase insulin sensitivity,
Levothyroxine (Synthroid, Others)
Chromium might bind levothyroxine in the intestinal tract and decrease levothyroxine absorption.
Clinical research in healthy volunteers shows that taking chromium picolinate 1000 mcg with levothyroxine 1 mg decreases serum levels of levothyroxine by 17% when compared to taking levothyroxine alone. Advise patients to take levothyroxine at least 30 minutes before or 3-4 hours after taking chromium.
Aspirin
Theoretically, aspirin might increase chromium absorption.
Animal research suggests that aspirin may increase chromium absorption and chromium levels in the blood.
Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (Nsaids)
NSAIDs might increase chromium levels in the body.
Drugs that are prostaglandin inhibitors, such as NSAIDs, seem to increase chromium absorption and retention.
