Figwort by Herbal Terra Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Herbal Terra's Figwort is a single-ingredient liquid extract with documented interactions affecting a significant number of medications.
The most serious concern is with lithium (used for bipolar disorder and depression): figwort's diuretic properties may reduce how your kidneys clear lithium, causing levels to build up in your body. If you take lithium, your dose may need to be lowered.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Figwort also interacts with diuretic drugs (water pills). Because figwort itself can act as a diuretic, taking it alongside potassium-depleting diuretics may increase the risk of low potassium (hypokalemia).
You may need to start a potassium supplement or increase an existing one.
Altogether, these interactions span 76 individual medications. Before you start this product, use the medication checker below to look up your exact prescriptions.

Figwort Root Extract, Dry
Diuretic Drugs
Theoretically, overuse of figwort might compound diuretic-induced potassium loss. There is some concern that people taking figwort along with potassium depleting diuretics might have an increased risk for hypokalemia. Initiation of potassium supplementation or an increase in potassium supplement dose may be necessary for some patients. Some diuretics that can deplete potassium include chlorothiazide (Diuril), chlorthalidone (Thalitone), furosemide (Lasix), hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ, Hydrodiuril, Microzide), and others.
Lithium
Figwort is thought to have diuretic properties. Theoretically, due to these potential diuretic effects, figwort might reduce excretion and increase levels of lithium. The dose of lithium might need to be decreased.
