Figwort + Mannitol
Mannitol brand names: Osmitrol, Bronchitol.

DIURETIC DRUGS
Why this applies to Mannitol
Mannitol falls under DIURETIC DRUGS — the group Figwort interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist for mannitol: it's a powerful osmotic diuretic that pulls extra water (and some minerals, including potassium) out through your urine. The concern on file is that figwort might add to that potassium loss, possibly nudging your potassium too low. Low potassium (hypokalemia) can show up as muscle cramps, weakness, fatigue, or an irregular heartbeat.
I'll be honest with you though, this is a theoretical worry based only on how the plant behaves in the lab, not on real human studies, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, since most people get mannitol in a hospital setting, it's worth mentioning any herbal products to your care team. Don't start or stop anything on your own. A quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor is the safest move.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Mannitol page
“American hellebore tops my worry list for anyone on mannitol (Osmitrol, Bronchitol), an osmotic diuretic used to draw fluid off the brain or, when inhaled, to clear mucus in cystic fibrosis. The plant's alkaloids drop blood pressure and slow the heart, a dangerous match for a drug that already shifts fluid and pressure quickly.”

About Figwort
What is Figwort?
- Skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis
- Minor wounds and rashes
- Swelling and inflammation
- Mild constipation
- Traditional 'detox' or lymphatic support
Figwort is a traditional herb used mainly for skin problems and minor swelling, but solid human studies are lacking, so its benefits remain unproven. It is generally used short-term and topically, and people with heart conditions, pregnant women, and nursing mothers should avoid it until more is known.
