FloraMend Prime Probiotic Ingredients & Drug Interactions
by Thorne
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking FloraMend Prime Probiotic against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
FloraMend Prime Probiotic is a capsule containing 3 active ingredients: two Bifidobacterium strains (bifidum and longum) and one Lactobacillus strain (gasseri). These are live, beneficial bacteria designed to support your gut flora.
The capsule also contains inactive ingredients—cellulose, pectin, water, potato starch, and silica—that help hold the product together and protect the organisms until they reach your intestines.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence we hold is mixed. Bifidobacterium bifidum is possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and respiratory tract infections, but we don't have enough data to rate it for hay fever, cognitive issues, or anxiety.
For Bifidobacterium longum and Lactobacillus gasseri, the conditions we reviewed—including cognitive decline, hay fever, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, asthma, and others—don't have enough reliable evidence to establish effectiveness. If you're considering this product for a specific condition, it's worth talking it over with your doctor or pharmacist.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
All three strains are generally well tolerated in healthy people. That said, if you have a weakened immune system, are critically ill, or are a newborn or preterm infant, you should be cautious and check with your doctor first.
Side effects are uncommon, but some people have reported bloating, flatulence, abdominal discomfort, or constipation. One case of a child taking both Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus together reported vomiting and fever, though it's unclear whether the probiotics caused it.
There have been very rare cases of bacterial infection (bacteremia or sepsis) in critically ill patients, mostly in preterm infants; these cases don't appear to be due to Bifidobacterium bifidum specifically. Bifidobacterium bifidum is rated possibly safe in pregnancy, and both Bifidobacterium longum and Lactobacillus gasseri are rated possibly safe in pregnancy and lactation.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Antibiotic drugs are the one medication type documented to interact with this product. Because probiotics are living organisms, antibiotics taken at the same time might reduce their effectiveness.
Space them out—your doctor or pharmacist can tell you the best timing for your specific antibiotic and situation.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
FloraMend Prime is a three-strain probiotic that's generally well tolerated and possibly effective for IBS and respiratory infections. The main thing to watch is timing: if you're on an antibiotic, separate it from this product to avoid reducing the probiotic's effectiveness.
If you have a weakened immune system, are very ill, or are pregnant or breastfeeding, talk with your doctor or pharmacist first to make sure it's right for you.

FloraMend Prime Probiotic by Thorne Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
FloraMend Prime Probiotic by Thorne contains three live bacterial strains—Bifidobacterium bifidum, Bifidobacterium longum, and Lactobacillus gasseri—each of which has a documented Moderate interaction with antibiotic drugs.
Because these probiotics are living organisms, taking them at the same time as antibiotics might kill a significant number of the bacteria and reduce the probiotic's effectiveness. The fix is straightforward: separate when you take them.
