What’s inside
Low disclosure
FlorAssist contains six probiotic ingredients—live beneficial bacteria strains designed to support digestive health. Four of them (L. paracasei, L. rhamnosus, B. bifidum/lactis, and B. lactis) we couldn't fully evaluate, but two are well studied: Bifidobacterium longum and Lactobacillus acidophilus, both common in probiotic formulas.
The remaining ingredients are capsule materials and fillers (glycerin, cellulose, stearic acid, and silica).
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
L. acidophilus has evidence suggesting it may help with irritable bowel syndrome, H. pylori infection, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis. B. longum's effectiveness for age-related cognitive decline, hay fever, anxiety, asthma, and athletic performance hasn't been established in the data we hold.
The four other probiotic strains in this blend have no effectiveness ratings in our files.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
L. acidophilus is generally well tolerated in healthy adults and children, though uncommon gastrointestinal side effects—bloating, gas, mild discomfort—have been reported when taken with other probiotics. B. longum is similarly well tolerated in healthy people but requires caution if you're seriously ill or immune-compromised; rare serious infections (bacteremia or sepsis) have occurred in critically ill patients and preterm infants.
Rare oral side effects include abdominal discomfort, flatulence, and a dry cough. Safety data during breastfeeding are limited for B. longum; L. acidophilus has no pregnancy or lactation data on file.

The main medication type to double-check is antibiotic drugs (Moderate interaction). Antibiotics can kill the live bacteria in this probiotic, making it less effective.

B. longum Bl-05
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Bifidobacterium longum with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of B. longum.
Since B. longum preparations usually contain live and active organisms, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and B. longum preparations by at least 2 hours.
Lactobacillus acidophilus LA14
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus acidophilus with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. acidophilus.
L. acidophilus preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. acidophilus preparations by at least two hours.
