What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: certified organic Forsythia dried fruit liquid extract. The liquid form includes menstruum as an inactive carrier ingredient.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence for forsythia in treating bronchiolitis is insufficient to rate — we don't have enough reliable data yet to say whether it works for that condition.
How safe is it?
Limited data
Forsythia has limited human safety data overall. It's traditionally been used short-term, but we don't know enough to say it's safe long-term.
The safety data advises against using it during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking this product, double-check with your pharmacist if you're on blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs (aspirin, clopidogrel, enoxaparin, heparin, and others) — forsythia may increase bleeding risk. Also check if you take azithromycin, an antibiotic.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is limited.
If you're considering forsythia for bronchiolitis, talk with your pharmacist first — the evidence isn't strong yet. It's especially important to check your exact medications before you start, particularly if you take blood thinners or azithromycin.
Avoid it if you're pregnant or breastfeeding.

Forsythia by Herbal Terra Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Forsythia by Herbal Terra is a single-ingredient liquid extract that does interact with medications.
The most serious concern is with blood thinners and antiplatelet drugs (anticoagulants/antiplatelets) — a Moderate interaction. Forsythia may reduce how well your blood clots by affecting platelet function, which could increase bleeding risk if you're on aspirin, clopidogrel (Plavix), dalteparin (Fragmin), enoxaparin (Lovenox), heparin, or similar drugs.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
There's also a Minor interaction documented with azithromycin (Zithromax), an antibiotic. Animal studies suggest forsythia may slow how your body clears both the antibiotic and forsythia itself, which could raise levels of both in your system.
Altogether, these interactions span 123 individual medications. Use the medication checker on this page to look up your exact prescriptions before you start.

certified organic Forsythia dried fruit liquid extract
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, taking forsythia with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs might increase the risk of bleeding due to decreased platelet aggregation. Forsythia might reduce platelet aggregation by inhibiting platelet activating factor. Some of these drugs include aspirin, clopidogrel (Plavix), dalteparin (Fragmin), enoxaparin (Lovenox), heparin, ticlopidine (Ticlid), warfarin (Coumadin), and others.
Azithromycin (Zithromax)
Theoretically, taking forsythia with azithromycin might increase the risk of adverse effects. Animal research in rats shows that taking a single dose of forsythia with azithromycin decreases the clearance and increases the area under the curve of both forsythiaside, a constituent of forsythia, and azithromycin. The mechanism of this interaction is not well understood.
