Esomeprazole, Naproxen falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Forsythia interacts with.

Theoretically, taking forsythia with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs might increase the risk of bleeding due to decreased platelet aggregation. Forsythia might reduce platelet aggregation by inhibiting platelet activating factor. Some of these drugs include aspirin, clopidogrel (Plavix), dalteparin (Fragmin), enoxaparin (Lovenox), heparin, ticlopidine (Ticlid), warfarin (Coumadin), and others.

Vimovo combines naproxen, an anti-inflammatory pain reliever, with esomeprazole, a stomach acid blocker added to protect your stomach lining. The naproxen part is what matters here. NSAIDs like naproxen already nudge up bleeding risk because they affect how platelets clump together to form clots.

Forsythia might also lower platelet stickiness in lab studies, so pairing the two could, in theory, add to that bleeding tendency. Realistically this might show up as easier bruising, nosebleeds, or stomach irritation. I want to be honest though: this concern comes from test tube and animal research only, and it's rated unlikely. Still, since naproxen itself can be rough on the stomach, it's worth mentioning to your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.
