What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Glandular System Formula against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Glandular System Formula by Christopher's Original Formulas
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
This formula contains 2 active ingredients: mullein and lobelia, delivered in a plant-derived capsule. Mullein is a traditional respiratory herb, and lobelia has been historically used for smoking cessation, though we hold limited evidence data for both.
The two active ingredients are blended together in this product.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence on mullein for bronchitis, asthma, cough, migraine, and diarrhea is insufficient to rate — we don't have enough reliable data to say whether it works for these uses. Lobelia is rated possibly ineffective for smoking cessation based on the data we hold.
In short, the evidence we have on this formula's active ingredients doesn't establish their effectiveness for their traditional purposes.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Mullein is generally well tolerated for short-term use, but human safety data are limited. It can occasionally cause dermatitis with skin contact or inhalation of plant dust.
Lobelia, on the other hand, carries real toxicity risk: it can cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, tremors, and throat irritation at doses as low as 50 mg, and at 600 mg or higher, it can trigger serious effects including rapid heartbeat, low blood pressure, convulsions, and potentially fatal outcomes. For this reason, caution is strongly advised with lobelia.
The safety data advises against mullein during pregnancy and while breastfeeding — there isn't enough information to know it's safe. Lobelia is rated likely unsafe in pregnancy and while breastfeeding due to toxicity concerns and lack of safety data.
Talk with your doctor or pharmacist before using this product if you're pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you start this formula, check your current medications against the following: if you take lithium (a mood stabilizer), lobelia may raise its levels and you may need a dose adjustment — this is a Moderate concern. If you take blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs like warfarin or aspirin, mullein's mild blood-thinning effects could add to theirs, though the risk is Minor.
Run your full medication list through the search tool on this page to confirm.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
If you take lithium or blood thinners, check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting this product — the interactions may require dose adjustments. Lobelia's toxicity risk at higher doses and limited safety data in pregnancy and breastfeeding also warrant a conversation with your healthcare provider before use.
The evidence on effectiveness for the traditional uses of these herbs is not established in our data.

Glandular System Formula by Christopher's Original Formulas Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Glandular System Formula by Christopher's Original Formulas contains mullein and lobelia, and these two ingredients do have documented interactions with medications.
The most serious concern is lobelia's interaction with lithium (a mood-stabilizing medication): lobelia's diuretic properties may reduce how your kidneys clear lithium, potentially raising lithium levels to unsafe ranges, and your dose might need adjustment.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Mullein has a minor interaction with blood thinners (anticoagulants) and antiplatelet drugs — lab studies show its saponins can mildly increase bleeding time, though the effect appears mild. Altogether, these interactions span 123 individual medications.
Because lobelia can be toxic at higher doses — causing nausea, vomiting, dizziness, tremors, and at doses of 600 mg or higher, serious symptoms like rapid heartbeat, low blood pressure, and worse — it's important to check the exact dose in this formula and talk with your doctor or pharmacist before starting, especially if you take lithium or blood thinners.

For each ingredient in Glandular System Formula with known interactions, here are the types of medications they can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Mullein
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Lab tests on extracts from different parts of common and dense-flowered mullein plants show that they do have some blood-thinning effects, as they increase the time it takes for blood to clot. This is likely due to at least one of the known constituents of muellein, triterpenoid saponins. However, the effects appear to be mild and results have been inconsistent. Extracts from different plant parts have been show to have varying anticoagulant strengths, with water-based ones being more potent than alcohol-based extracts.
Lobelia
Lithium
Lobelia is thought to have diuretic properties. Theoretically, due to these potential diuretic effects, lobelia might reduce excretion and increase levels of lithium. The dose of lithium might need to be decreased.
