Glutamine Ingredients & Drug Interactions
by ALLMAX
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Glutamine against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

What’s inside
Full disclosure
ALLMAX Glutamine contains one active ingredient: L-glutamine, a naturally occurring amino acid your body uses for muscle support and immune function. It comes as a powder with no inactive ingredients listed.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
The data supports L-glutamine as effective for sickle cell disease. It's rated possibly effective for HIV/AIDS-related wasting, recovery after surgery, and critical illness from trauma.
For other uses, the evidence isn't established in the data we hold.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
L-glutamine is generally well tolerated in healthy adults. The most common side effects are digestive — belching, bloating, gas, constipation, diarrhea, nausea, and stomach pain.
Headache and musculoskeletal pain have also been reported. A small number of people have experienced dizziness; one case resolved when the dose was lowered.
Two people with bipolar disorder reported mood changes (mania or hypomania) on high doses, so if you have a mood disorder, mention this supplement to your doctor. If you have kidney or liver disease, use this only under medical supervision.
There isn't enough safety data during pregnancy and breastfeeding, so talk with your doctor or pharmacist before taking it if you're pregnant or nursing.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take anticonvulsant medications (seizure drugs), check with your pharmacist before using this product. The interaction is theoretical and not yet reported in humans, but your doctor should know you're taking it.

Formula
ALLMAX Glutamine uses glutamine crystals made from a natural fermentation process. This state-of-the-art process creates a unique, purified and isolated glutamine ideal for supplementation. Glutamine is the most abundant amino acid found in muscle tissue. During times of stress, including exercise and athletic events, glutamine is one of the first amino acids to be oxidized. Supplementation with glutamine may help to support muscle glutamine levels, prevent muscle tissue breakdown and increase recovery.
OU (Kosher) Certified
Fermentation derived glutamine
Formulation
The Glutasure advantage: ALLMAX Glutamine uses a proprietary hyper-particulation process called Glutasure technology. Glutasure is a pressure driven ceramic membrane process that: 1) Decreases glutamine particle size 2) Increases glutamine suspension time in liquid 3) Speeds glutamine absorption into the bloodstream

HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
ALLMAX Glutamine is a single-ingredient L-glutamine powder.
It has one documented interaction category: anticonvulsant medications (drugs used to prevent seizures). The concern is theoretical rather than proven in humans.
Glutamine breaks down into glutamate, an excitatory brain chemical that might work against how anticonvulsants do their job — but this hasn't actually been reported in people yet.

Altoghether, these interactions span 50 individual medications.
If you take an anticonvulsant, talk to your pharmacist or doctor before starting this supplement. They can help you decide if it's right for you or if you need extra monitoring.
