What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: L-Glutamine, Fermented (also called glutamine). Glutamine is an amino acid — one of the building blocks your body uses to make protein.
It's produced naturally in your muscles and plays roles in immune function, gut health, and recovery from stress or illness. There are no inactive ingredients listed for this product.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence supports glutamine as effective for sickle cell disease. For other uses — HIV/AIDS-related wasting, recovery after surgery, and critical illness from trauma — the evidence rates it as possibly effective, meaning some studies show promise but more research is needed to be sure.
The data we hold doesn't establish effectiveness for other conditions.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Glutamine is generally well tolerated when taken by mouth in healthy adults. The most common side effects are gastrointestinal: belching, bloating, constipation, diarrhea, flatulence, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain.
Headache and musculoskeletal pain have also been reported. At very high doses, dizziness and headache can occur, and in rare cases, people with bipolar disorder have reported mood changes (mania or hypomania).
If you have kidney or liver disease, use glutamine only under medical supervision. There isn't enough safety data to recommend supplement doses during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless your doctor advises it.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take anticonvulsant medications (seizure drugs), check with your pharmacist before using this product — glutamine may theoretically work against how these medications work, though this hasn't been confirmed in patients yet. Altogether, these interactions span 50 individual medications.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Glutamine is worth considering if you have sickle cell disease or are recovering from surgery or critical illness, or if your doctor recommends it for HIV-related wasting. If you take anticonvulsants (seizure medications), talk to your pharmacist before starting this product.
It's generally well tolerated, but watch for digestive upset at higher doses.

Formula
What is Glutamine? Gutamine us the most abundant amino acid in the human body. It's essential for muscle protein synthesis, post-worked fatigue, and recovery. When your body is depleted of glutamine, such as after an intense workout, you'll want to restore your glutamine levels right afterward to help with muscle protein synthesis and reduce muscle breakdown. Why Kaged BCAAs? Many glutamine supplements on the market are from shellfish, human hair, and bird feathers which are not the best sources of L-Glutamine. Fermented L-Glutamine is the purest L-Glutamine you can buy.
Cheaply priced glutamine is generally indicative of low-quality raw materials used in manufacturing. With Micropure Glutamine by Kaged, you can be assured that you are getting high-quality free-form glutamine. 5 Grams L-Glutamine

HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Kaged Muscle's Glutamine Unflavored contains one active ingredient: L-Glutamine, Fermented.
It has a documented moderate-severity interaction with anticonvulsant medications (drugs used to prevent seizures). Glutamine is broken down in your body into glutamate, an excitatory brain chemical that theoretically might work against how anticonvulsants are meant to calm seizure activity.
We should note this interaction hasn't been reported in actual patients yet — the concern is theoretical based on how glutamine is metabolized.

Although anticonvulsants are the only drug category with documented interactions in our data, you should still check your exact medications with the search tool on this page to be certain.
