What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: shilajit extract in raw form. Shilajit is a mineral-rich substance found in high-altitude mountain regions.
There are no inactive ingredients listed for this powder.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence for shilajit is not yet established for the conditions we've reviewed in our data. It's been studied for Alzheimer disease, sexual dysfunction, athletic performance, benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate), and osteopenia (low bone mineral density), but we don't hold reliable evidence to rate it for any of these.
That doesn't mean it doesn't work—just that the research isn't solid enough yet to say either way.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Shilajit is generally well tolerated, though a small number of rare cases have been reported: one case of severe allergic reaction (hives progressing to anaphylaxis with exercise) and headache reported rarely in clinical studies. Because unpurified shilajit can contain heavy metals or other contaminants, use only purified, tested brands.
During pregnancy, safety data is insufficient and contamination risk exists, so it's best avoided. Safety while breastfeeding is unknown, so avoid it then as well.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take antidiabetes drugs (Moderate severity)—insulin, metformin, glibenclamide, or any other blood-sugar-lowering medication—check your exact drugs using the tool on this page before starting shilajit. It may increase your risk of low blood sugar.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Shilajit may be worth considering if you're interested in its traditional uses, but the evidence to support it for specific health conditions isn't solid yet. If you take antidiabetes medication, talk to your pharmacist before starting—it can lower your blood sugar further.
Make sure you're buying a purified, tested product, and skip it during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Taking shilajit with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Most human and animal research shows that shilajit can decrease fasting plasma glucose levels.
