HMF Powder Ingredients & Drug Interactions
by Genestra Brands
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking HMF Powder against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
HMF Powder contains five active ingredients: two strains of Lactobacillus acidophilus (CUL-60 and CUL-21), two Bifidobacterium species (Bifidobacterium bifidum and Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis), and fructooligosaccharides (a plant fiber that acts as food for beneficial bacteria). These are all live, active microorganisms and a prebiotic — together they're meant to support your gut flora.
The product contains no inactive fillers or other ingredients listed.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The Lactobacillus strains are possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome, Helicobacter pylori infection, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis. Bifidobacterium bifidum is possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome and respiratory tract infections.
Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis is possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome, respiratory tract infections, and constipation. The fructooligosaccharides haven't shown reliable evidence for any of the conditions studied — the data we hold rates them as insufficient to say either way.
Your results will depend on which condition you're using it for and your individual response.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
The live probiotic strains are generally well tolerated in healthy adults and children, though gastrointestinal side effects like bloating, flatulence, abdominal pain, and diarrhea can occur — these are uncommon but possible, especially when you first start. The fructooligosaccharides commonly cause gas, bloating, and abdominal pain, especially at higher doses, though studies show doses under 10 grams daily are often mild.
There's theoretical concern that any live probiotic could cause infection in people with weakened immune systems or critical illness, though this is rare. Because supplement-level safety data is limited, check with your doctor before starting, particularly if you're immunocompromised or critically ill.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take antibiotic drugs, space them several hours apart from this powder — the antibiotics can kill the live probiotic organisms and reduce their benefit. Check your exact medications using the search tool on this page to confirm timing.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
HMF Powder is a multi-strain probiotic with some evidence for gut and immune support, especially if you're dealing with irritable bowel syndrome or antibiotic side effects. The main thing to watch is timing with antibiotics — space them apart so the antibiotic doesn't kill off the live bacteria.
If you have a weakened immune system or are taking antibiotics, talk to your pharmacist before you start.

HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
HMF Powder by Genestra Brands contains live probiotic organisms that interact with one medication type.
The most serious concern is antibiotic drugs — the Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium strains in this product may lose effectiveness if you take them at the same time as antibiotics, because the antibiotics can kill off the live bacteria. Altogether, these interactions span 182 individual medications.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
To get the full benefit of either the probiotics or your antibiotic, space them apart — your pharmacist or doctor can tell you the right timing for your specific situation. This is especially important if you're taking the powder to help with antibiotic-related side effects like diarrhea; timing matters there too.
