HMF Powder Ingredients & Drug Interactions
by Genestra Brands
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking HMF Powder against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of HMF Powder by Genestra Brands
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
HMF Powder contains four active ingredients. Three are probiotics—live beneficial bacteria strains: Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis (strain CUL-34), Bifidobacterium bifidum (strain CUL-20), and Lactobacillus acidophilus (strains CUL-60 and CUL-21).
The fourth is fructooligosaccharides (FOS), a type of soluble fiber that acts as a prebiotic—it feeds the good bacteria already in your gut so they can thrive. The product has no inactive ingredients listed beyond those four actives.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for what this product can do is mixed and still developing. Both Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis and Bifidobacterium bifidum are rated possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and respiratory tract infections.
Lactobacillus acidophilus is possibly effective for IBS, Helicobacter pylori infection, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis. However, for many other uses—including constipation, diabetes, allergies, and anxiety—the evidence in our data is insufficient to make a reliable call.
FructOoligosaccharides similarly lack sufficient evidence for the conditions listed. If you're considering this product for a specific health goal, talk to your pharmacist about what the current evidence supports.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
All three probiotic strains in this powder are generally well tolerated by most healthy people when taken as directed. The most common side effects are gastrointestinal: diarrhea, bloating, flatulence, and abdominal discomfort—especially when you first start.
FOS can also cause gas, bloating, and abdominal pain, particularly at higher doses, though studies show that below 10 grams daily these effects are usually mild. There is a theoretical concern that probiotics might cause infection in people with very weakened immune systems, though this is rare.
Pregnant and breastfeeding individuals: pregnancy and lactation safety data for these ingredients are not on file, so discuss with your doctor or pharmacist before use to get personalized advice.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take antibiotic drugs, check with your pharmacist before starting this product—the probiotics work best when separated from antibiotics by a few hours. No other medication interactions are documented for the ingredients we could check.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
HMF Powder is a four-ingredient probiotic and prebiotic blend generally well tolerated by healthy adults. It may help with IBS and some infections, though the evidence is still developing.
If you take antibiotics, space them a few hours away from this powder. Talk to your pharmacist before starting, especially if you have a weakened immune system, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or take any medications.

HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
HMF Powder by Genestra Brands contains four active probiotic and prebiotic ingredients, and the one interaction we have documented data for involves antibiotic drugs.
Three of the four ingredients—Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis, Bifidobacterium bifidum, and Lactobacillus acidophilus—are live organisms that may lose effectiveness if you take them at the same time as antibiotics, since the antibiotics can kill the beneficial bacteria in the supplement. The interaction is Moderate in severity.
To get the full benefit, space out your antibiotic doses and this probiotic powder by a few hours—your doctor or pharmacist can help you time them.

Fructooligosaccharides, the fourth ingredient, has no known interactions documented in our data. Altogether, these interactions span 182 individual medications.
No interactions are documented for the ingredients we could check against other drug types. That said, the absence of documented interactions is not a guarantee that none exist.
