Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This powder has 3 active ingredients. Apple cider vinegar powder provides acetic acid and compounds from fermented apples.
Litesse Polydextrose Fiber is a soluble fiber used to add bulk and support digestive function. BiMuno B-Gos Galactooligosaccharides is a prebiotic fiber ingredient, though we hold no interaction or safety data for it.
The product also contains several inactive ingredients—fillers, binders, and flavorings like citric acid, natural and artificial flavors, sucralose, and food coloring.
Does it work?
Not established
The evidence we hold doesn't establish that apple cider vinegar works for acne, athletic performance, cognitive function, dental plaque, depression, or atopic dermatitis (eczema)—the data shows insufficient reliable evidence to rate it for any of these uses. Polydextrose is rated with insufficient evidence for upper respiratory tract infection, constipation, diabetes, irritable bowel syndrome, or obesity.
We have no effectiveness data on file for BiMuno B-Gos Galactooligosaccharides.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Apple cider vinegar in food amounts is generally well tolerated, but large doses or long-term medicinal use carry more risk. The most serious concern is hypokalemia (low potassium), especially with chronic use—a documented case involved 250 mL daily for 6 years and resulted in low potassium, elevated renin levels, and osteoporosis.
Short-term oral use for medicinal purposes seems well tolerated in smaller amounts. Topically, undiluted apple cider vinegar can cause chemical burns and skin irritation.
Polydextrose is generally recognized as safe in food amounts. At supplement-level doses above 50 grams per dose or 90 grams daily, it commonly causes bloating, gas, and diarrhea.
We hold no pregnancy or lactation safety data for any of these ingredients—talk with your doctor or pharmacist for personalized advice if you're pregnant or nursing.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking this powder, double-check it with your doctor or pharmacist if you take diuretic drugs (water pills), digoxin (Lanoxin), insulin, or antidiabetes medications like metformin or sulfonylureas. Apple cider vinegar can lower potassium and blood sugar, making these drugs less safe or more potent.
No interactions are documented for the polydextrose or galactooligosaccharides ingredients we could check.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This product is mainly a concern if you take diuretics, digoxin, insulin, or antidiabetes medications—the apple cider vinegar can interact meaningfully with all of them. If you're on any of those drugs or have a history of low potassium, check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting.
Even without those medications, stick to normal serving sizes and don't use it long-term without medical guidance, since heavy, chronic use of apple cider vinegar carries real risks.

Hunger Support Orange Mango by GNC Total Lean Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
GNC Total Lean Hunger Support Orange Mango contains apple cider vinegar powder, which interacts with several medication types.
The most serious concern is with diuretic drugs (water pills)—apple cider vinegar may lower potassium levels, and combining it with potassium-depleting diuretics increases that risk. A case of dangerously low potassium (hypokalemia) from long-term apple cider vinegar use has been reported.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Apple cider vinegar also has Moderate-severity interactions with digoxin (a heart medication), insulin, and antidiabetes drugs. With digoxin, the concern is that low potassium can increase the drug's toxic effects on the heart.
With insulin and antidiabetes medications, apple cider vinegar may lower blood sugar further, raising the risk of dangerously low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). At a Minor level, antidiabetes drugs carry additional risk of low blood sugar when combined with this product.
We could not check BiMuno B-Gos Galactooligosaccharides for interactions—we hold no data for it. Polydextrose (the fiber ingredient) shows no documented interactions.
Altogether, these interactions span 162 individual medications. Before you start this powder, run your exact medications through the interaction checker on this page or discuss it with your doctor or pharmacist.

For each ingredient in Hunger Support Orange Mango with known interactions, here are the types of medications they can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Dietary Fiber
Carbamazepine (Tegretol)
Theoretically, black psyllium might reduce the effects of carbamazepine and increase the risk for convulsions.
Theoretically, black psyllium might reduce carbamazepine absorption. A preliminary study using blond psyllium reported decreased carbamazepine bioavailability due to binding of the drug to psyllium, as well as reduction of available fluid in the gut for dissolution of the drug. This interaction may also occur with black psyllium.
Lithium
Theoretically, taking black psyllium at the same time as lithium might reduce lithium absorption.
The fiber in black psyllium might reduce lithium absorption and plasma levels. Some case reports describe a reduction in plasma lithium levels with concomitant administration of blond psyllium. This was reversed when psyllium was stopped. This interaction may also occur with black psyllium.
Metformin (Glucophage)
Theoretically, black psyllium might increase the therapeutic and adverse effects of metformin.
Animal research shows that concurrent consumption of blond psyllium with metformin slows and increases the absorption of metformin. This interaction may also occur with black psyllium. To avoid changes in absorption, take psyllium 30-60 minutes after metformin.
Olanzapine (Zyprexa)
Theoretically, taking black psyllium at the same time as olanzapine might reduce olanzapine absorption.
The fiber in black psyllium might decrease the absorption of olanzapine. A single case report describes a reduction in the effectiveness of olanzapine when it was concomitantly administered with an unspecified type of psyllium 3 grams orally twice daily. This effect was reversed when psyllium was stopped.
Digoxin (Lanoxin)
Theoretically, taking black psyllium at the same time as digoxin might reduce digoxin absorption and decrease digoxin levels.
Psyllium might bind digoxin in the gut. However, some clinical evidence suggests that psyllium does not impact digoxin absorption.
Ethinyl Estradiol
Theoretically, taking black psyllium at the same time as ethinyl estradiol might alter levels of estradiol.
Concurrent use of blond psyllium with ethinyl estradiol results in a slight increase in the extent of ethinyl estradiol absorption and a slower rate of absorption. This is unlikely to be clinically significant.
Oral Drugs
Theoretically, psyllium might increase, decrease, or have no effect on the absorption of oral drugs.
Psyllium seems to have variable effects on drug absorption. To avoid changes in absorption, take psyllium 30-60 minutes after oral medications. Animal research shows that blond psyllium delays and increases the absorption of metformin and ethinyl estradiol. Case reports and animal research suggest that blond psyllium might reduce absorption of lithium, digoxin, olanzapine, and carbamazepine. Finally, some pharmacokinetic studies show that psyllium does not affect the absorption of levothyroxine or warfarin. Although many of these studies evaluated blond psyllium, the fiber content in black psyllium may have similar effects.
Apple Cider Vinegar powder
Digoxin (Lanoxin)
Theoretically, concomitant use of apple cider vinegar with digoxin might increase the risk of cardiac toxicity.
A case of hypokalemia related to chronic use of apple cider vinegar has been reported. Theoretically, overuse of apple cider vinegar could decrease potassium levels, increasing the risk of toxicity with digoxin.
Diuretic Drugs
Theoretically, concomitant use of apple cider vinegar with diuretic drugs might increase the risk of hypokalemia.
A case of hypokalemia related to chronic use of apple cider vinegar has been reported. There is some concern that people taking apple cider vinegar along with potassium depleting diuretics might have an increased risk for hypokalemia.
Insulin
Theoretically, concomitant use of apple cider vinegar with insulin might increase the risk of hypokalemia.
A case of hypokalemia related to chronic use of apple cider vinegar has been reported. Theoretically, overuse of apple cider vinegar concomitantly with insulin might increase the risk of hypokalemia.
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, taking apple cider vinegar with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Apple cider vinegar might reduce fasting and postprandial blood glucose levels and decrease gastric emptying in people with diabetes. However, not all research agrees. Theoretically, it might have additive effects on glucose levels when used with antidiabetes drugs.
