Here's the thing to know about pairing apple cider vinegar with methazolamide (Neptazane). Methazolamide is a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor, and like many drugs in the broader diuretic family, it can pull potassium out of your body over time. Apple cider vinegar, in concentrated supplement amounts, has been linked in at least one case report to low potassium too. So the worry is that together they could nudge your potassium lower than you'd want.

Honestly, this is mostly theoretical and based on weak, anecdotal evidence, so I wouldn't lose sleep over a splash of vinegar on your salad. But if you take ACV daily as a supplement, watch for signs of low potassium like muscle cramps, weakness, tingling, or an irregular heartbeat. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before making any changes.

What Is Methazolamide Used For?

Brand name: Neptazane

Methazolamide tablets are used to treat eye conditions where lowering intraocular pressure (pressure inside the eye) is expected to help. These include chronic open-angle glaucoma and secondary glaucoma.

Methazolamide tablets are also used before surgery in acute angle-closure glaucoma, when reducing eye pressure ahead of the procedure is needed. Note that long-term use in angle-closure glaucoma is not appropriate.
