ANTIDIABETES DRUGS
Why this applies to Glipizide
Glipizide falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Apple Cider Vinegar interacts with.
Apple cider vinegar might reduce fasting and postprandial blood glucose levels and decrease gastric emptying in people with diabetes. However, not all research agrees. Theoretically, it might have additive effects on glucose levels when used with antidiabetes drugs.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version: glipizide already lowers your blood sugar by nudging your pancreas to release more insulin. Apple cider vinegar may do a little blood sugar lowering of its own, partly by slowing how fast your stomach empties after a meal. Stack the two and, in theory, they could add up and push your sugar a bit too low.
If that happened, you might feel shaky, sweaty, dizzy, hungry, or unusually tired. The good news is this interaction is rated minor and rests on weak, mixed evidence, so a splash of vinegar on a salad isn't likely to be a problem. Larger daily supplement doses are more worth watching. If you use ACV regularly, keep an eye on your readings and check in with your pharmacist or doctor before changing anything.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Glipizide page
“Glipizide (Glucotrol, Glucotrol XL) lowers blood sugar by prompting the pancreas to release more insulin, and that same power is why I read its supplement list with real seriousness. Of the 307 ingredients on file, 239 also act on blood glucose, so stacking them can drive sugar dangerously low.”

About Apple Cider Vinegar
What is Apple Cider Vinegar?
- Blood sugar support
- Weight management
- Digestive upset
- Appetite control
- Skin and hair care
Apple cider vinegar is a fermented apple product that many people use hoping to help with blood sugar, weight, or digestion. The evidence for most of these uses is limited and mixed, and the modest effects seen in small studies are not a substitute for proven treatments. When diluted and used in small amounts it is generally safe for most people, but undiluted vinegar can harm teeth and the throat.
About Glipizide
What Is Glipizide Used For?
Brand names: Glucotrol, Glucotrol XL
Glipizide tablets and glipizide extended-release tablets are both used as an add-on to diet and exercise to improve blood sugar (glucose) control in adults with type 2 diabetes. It is not used for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis (a serious complication of uncontrolled blood sugar).

Glipizide Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Glipizide as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Apple Cider Vinegar — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
